Nope...I had one go bad on me, it was an earlier Fromeco pack and they said that they didn't need balancing (no balance lead)...luckily I cycled the pack as it was sitting in the plane for awhile and that's when it killed over...all my other Fromeco A123's have either a balance lead or the balance board built in as they sell them...on the one with the balance lead it was off pretty good so I cycled it while balancing it and all is well so far...now I always balance charge it even though it requires me to pull it out of the plane each time...

I think I am going to love this plane, just got back after maiden her with 3 flights, all I can say is wow, this is my 1st gasser. Coming from the 48" edge to 74 gas took some getting use to, so I took it east today. only a click or 2 of trim was needed. going have some fun when the pucker factor gos away

If you don't like to remove the battery to balance charge it, you can splice the balance wires with servo extension wire and soldier. Worked well for me.

I doubt you really need to balance charge it every vhsthr. I balance charge about 1 out of 5 times, and I have never killed and A123

I have run packs down to literally zero volts before (by accident), cycled them a four times, and they were came to 95% (plus) capacity on charge/discharge cycle within the second or third cycle.

"Everydayflier" is charging 3 cell packs straight off a lead-acid battery at like 20-30 amps gets a full charge in only a few minutes...claims to have hundreds of cycles (I believe him)

I can charge my receiver packs at the field in like 5-10 minutes at 10 amps, I don't even need to remember to charge them at home it is so fast.

In terms of bullet-proof, practical, receiver and ignition packs, A123s are the best IMO........I wish they could make them about 30% lighter so we could use them in our electrics!!!

this is what I use for all my throttle servos, used it on a DLE 30, now its on a DA-150. Its fast enough, metal gears, high voltage and CHEAP

I use Hitec 7955 or 7940...neither is cheap like the 5665 though...but these are HV capable (not sure if the 5665 is or not.....never owned one).

Key items are FAST response and good centering for a gas throttle servo. And...for those that have never owned a gasser....there's usually a spring on the throttle to pull it closed if the linkage fails....I leave that spring ON the engine...which means the servo always pushes against a spring...this also helps with any "slop" in the linkage if there is any....but a good linkage that has NO slop and NO binding is very important too...

The Hitec 5665MH works perfectly on HV. All of my 50cc and 100cc planes have the 5665 on the throttle. I have probably 800 flights on the one in the 104.

Cool. Nice to know! I suppose I just found myself a new "NEXT" throttle servo...they are cheaper than 7940's or 55's.

I see people talking about the Xoar and Flacon props. Anyone fly both who can compare? Planning in running the A60-6xs.

Also is Joe Smith still flying the 21x10 over the 20x10? I see a lot of people running the 20 and wondering why he went with the 21.

Thank you!

Yes, Joe flies the 21X10...as to reason why, I would think that it works best for his flying style...YMMV...

Well the Edge treated me well today. I placed third in the black hills huckfest 3d throw down. Great flying plane and the authority made it super violent. Its fun to have a 30 cc that can play with the big boys.
