what happens if you under-prop a brushless motor

anyone know what would be the consequences of using a smaller than recommended prop on say a 5055-320kv motor

The motor wouldn't get hot, you would get more flight time, and you wouldn't have as much power as if you used the recommended prop size

Smaller prop just means you will draw less current.

in rc, the only advantage to multi blade props are ground clearance and looks. they are extremely inefficient in small sizes (read rc as compared to full scale)

just meant that on a full scale, the multi blade props all contribute to thrust, but on small scale stuff, the extra blades just get in the wake of the other blades and dont do as much

I see no disavantage as long as the plane flies the way you want it to.

On the plus side, everything runs cooler for more duration with less stress on the ESC, BATTERY, and MOTOR which can result in longer component life.
