Was it a Needle 100 DSL or the Needle 100 FDS?

And was the weight really below 5kg ?

The record-breaking Needle 100" was the green DSL version which weighs at 3.2 kg. The one that crashed earlier in the day was the RED Full DS version which weighs also at 3.2 kg.

Both under 5 kg and the maximum loading of 3.35 kg for Needle 100".

And as for the TV coverage… who cares what she's saying? It's toy planes on the telly. And she's as cute as a weathergirl.

More seriously: congrats to Thuro. For so long he seems to have the record for F3F ( crow throughs ignored)

To my Taiwanese friends, thank you very much for your hospitality. You are not just a great host but you guys are fantastic friends. You took upon yourself to even help us repairs our gliders, teach us new concept of flying, even paid for our seafood dinner, thank you very much.

On behalf of Team Singapore, a toast to you!

This is our third regional F3F competition and over these 3 years we have made wonderful friends from Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. We are not bless with wonderful slopes or wind here in Singapore but we are truly blessed with wonderful friends.

Here's to you and your family, till we meet again in Korea or other region and I promise to go learn Mandarin so I can communicate with you guys.

Cheers!

They say there is no sponsorship so they dont go to world championship Viking race. But now perhaps they can get government funding to attend next Viking world champ race.

Looks like they should host Viking to me.

In Taiwan, a project to obtain government grants is not easy, but Mr. O's intent is more than that. In addition to hope that the Government encourage and funding F3F activities, he also hopes players around the world can come to Taiwan to experience Long-pan this venue, but not all television news broadcast.

I have written a brief account of the record-breaking event with some photos. Hope this will generate more interest in future Typhoon Races that may be held again in Lunpang. Here is the link:
