E-flyin Melbourne Florida

My home club in Melbourne Florida has scheduled an Electric event for December 27th and 28th (the weekend after christmas). We have a nice large field, with two grass runways, and a "pond" also for float flying. The club website is www.irks.org and the event is currently listed as one day, but it will in-fact be a two day event, with an electric kit raffled off each day. Entry fee is $10 per day, or $15 for both days. Motels are at the exit off I-95 which is a 1.6 mile drive from the field . camping is allowed on-site, but there are no hookups. no competitive events, just lots of open flying with electrics!

Hey man....

Count me in!

I plan on coming down Friday morning. The timing should be perfect after a week straight with all the family.

I'm sure it will be much warmer than Atlanta that time of year also!

I think we should have a good group from Atlanta in attendance.

By the way folks....the field is awesome. They have a main runway and a crosswind runway. There's even a large pond for float flying.

The Kwik E video on my site was taped at Gary's club field.

I bet if I asked my family if they wanted to go to Disneyworld I bet they'd go, then I could sneak off. Hmm, I've got that whole week off for Xmas shutdown. Thinking really hard now.

Family want's to do Disney at Xmas so barring any unforseen issues I should be there. What's the weather like that time of year? Could my Spit retracts handle the grass with it's 2 1/2" wheels?

GREAT to hear you'll be here kelvin!

don't think the spit will have a problem,.. we have some really good field maintanence guys in the club that rarely let the runway get out of hand, and they normally cut it an extra time the day before an event. We have many planes in the club with retracts, and I know for example that one of them has 2.25" wheels on a 40 size plane and it does fine.

GREAT! Count me in too....

I live just an hour south down in Palm City and have been up to your field for a couple of scale fly-ins.

Looking forward to it.

Sounds good. We'll have the whole Orlando Squadron over. About 15-20 of us will be coming.
