disk brakes on rc nitro car

Hi there
For a while now I have been looking at rc nitro cars and was wondering how the disk brakes work, is it got something to do with the engine or is like a real car where there are brakes on the wheels.

I am also interested to know how the engine actually drives the wheels as I know that the engine just dosn't run to the axle.

sorry for all the questions as in knew to this sort of hobby.

The engine drives the wheels through a gear train and centrifugal clutch. I believe there are some cars with a two speed transmission although I'm not very up to date on the latest devices. The brake is applied to the drive shaft (AFIK) rather than to individual wheels.

They typically have a single brake disc and it is applied to the drive train and not at the wheels themselves. They usually couple the brake with the throttle on the engine so the two work in conjunction with each other.
