Worst Mustang ever?

In the past I've received some comments on my dislike for ARTF Spitfires that take serious liberties with the overall shape of the aeroplane, and/or the colour scheme. Some folks have said that it really doesn't matter and the point has been made that similar liberties taken with P-51s and P-47s go uncommented upon.

Well, I think I've just seen the worst looking representation of a Mustang ever made, on eBay.

Cover your eyes and just peek through your fingers for this one folks.

looks like a Cub and a Mustang had a baby, and this was the result.

The Cessna L-19 empennage really compliments the Cubbish wing tips. The only thing that this plane has in common with a Mustang (other than the name), is the bubble canopy, and it is a poor one at that!

Good thing Edgar Schmued isn't around to see that. He might be a little grumpy about it.

I hear ya, scale should be as close as possible and still fly but...nowhere in the listing does it say warbird, P-51, WWII or anything past the name. Except for a smallish black emblem, it really doesn't even elude to North American product.

Just sayin'.

At least they left off the critical 'P51' element...

Even if it was a full sized freeby pull-out plan in a magazine, it would be ugly.

In the words of the immortal bard - 'if it looks good, it'll fly good'. That fails on the most important of aerodynamical considerations right away.

Yeah, but look at this

Left and right vertical fin control enable this flying machine to turn left or right giving it a 360 degree turn capability.

Ah but look on the bright side, if they'd claimed it was a Spitfire it would be even worse...if only marginally.

And to be honest I don't think those people who know or care terribly about the distinction between rudder control and "vertical fin control" are going to be a major part of their target market .

It hangs it's head in shame.

I can see the need to take certain liberties, but this is just to far.

Buzz.

It isn't a mustang, it is a feral horse.

I am going to paint my 3 meter open class dark grey and call it a F-16.
