i doubt you will get past the 200kph mark with the 2836-2350. i cant really see that the 6x4 sport prop would provide me with with 30+kph difference. im prolly gonna do a 5-6s setup with either a 3648 motor or the turnigy typhoon 500h motor, atleast thats my dream... my radjet with the carbonrod and battery weighs around 400g, with a 6s heavy setup im looking at about 900g. i know the 500h is good for around 2kw, could be fun

there is one video there but with a smaller prop, in the 4.5x4.5 size... As soon as I can or weather permit I will get to it with an APC 6x4 prop.

did a search couldn't find it. lots of references to other motors and setups but nothing about the stock top speed.

50mph? 60? 70?

I just finished my RadJet and have a couple of questions that I have not seen definitive answers to in this thread. My apologies if I missed the applicable replies.

I intend to start out stock on 3s and am confused as to the best prop. Stock measures just over 5 in. (5 X 5 ?) but I see reference to larger and smaller, with generally less pitch. As I am a heli and 3D/slowflyer pilot I am not sure which way to go on this plane. Secondly, could anyone tell me what their high rate control surface deflection is? I find some reference to 10 to 12 mm for a Funjet which does not seem like much to me.

Thanks for any replies. Maiden will be a while as it is -8 C and snowing as I post this, with windchill of -25 C forecast for tomorrow.

The guys with the bigger motors and 4s can handle going with a bigger prop because they would most likely hit the maximum rpms of the motor or very close to it. Listen to Choopi's last video. That sucker is turning about 1'000'000 rpms. He can afford to use a larger prop and get a better bite out of the air. This will of coarse result in higher speed. But if your using the stock setup. Then you need to get the max rpms for that motor, because lets face it... Its only doing about 1/3 the rpms of a performance motor, so in this case you need a smaller prop.

The general rule of thumb is... If you go up in dia by 1" then you decrease your pitch by one. But thats not written in stone.

I dont recall the control surface throws. but I can tell you that 10-12mm on this plane is MASSIVE! lol You will only need about 5mm on the aileron and elevator. Perhaps some else could better answer this question, as I havnt flown mine in awhile.

I feel your pain about the weather. Here in Toronto. Its just been all around crappy for the last month.

Gorilla glue will work, but you have to be careful because it expands so much.

Regular CA or Slow CA works best with EPO foam. and No, it wont melt the foam

I removed some foam inside the fuz to make space for my 4s 1800 nano tech. I have it balanced at the front edge of the launch grips. It's still a bit nose heavy as it needs +- 2mm of up elevator, but I dont want to move it too far back because the death spin problem.

I have reinforced the wings with one strip of packing tape top and bottom.

Let me tell you, this thing is nuts! Its much faster than the skyfun on the same set-up. My guess is that it is around 130mph. The only downside is that it has to land a lot faster too, but that's easy enough to get used too.

This is my set-up:
Motor: Turnigy 2836 2350KV (actually 2800KV)
ESC: Plush 60A
Battery: 4cell 1800mah 65c-130c (This battery is the nuts! stays completely cool!)

On a side note, I managed to rewind the motor I burnt out with field windings from an old beetle generator. I spooled it up this evening and it seems great! I'll test it on a plane to see if it performs better than stock as the single strand windings I used are considerably thicker than the multi-strand windings in the stock motor.

Thank you Sir for this. I trashed my SkyFun with the same 4s setup. This is exactly what I was planning on doing. All the electrics will be transplanted when I buy this next month..thank you..
