I got same setup , except i use 3300 . I use 9*6 . pulls about 50amp flat out, speed of about 145km.
One tip if you dont know is, if the motor makes weird noises , turn the esc timing up for those RED esc.

lol, thanks locko, yep mine was knocking and brosius and chris sorted me out, hade to reprogram the esc

wierd thing was I couldnt do it when the throttle was connected to the fy31ap, couldnt even calibrate it until I plugged it direct to rx.

As it turns out this is best anyway as fy31ap doesnt do anything with throttle anyway, so its staying connected to rx

I still dont understand what all this stuff is about amps, apart from wanting your setup to draw the least amount, which has a lot to do with prop selection, hence the question

cool beans

Here is a good link that Brosius put up for picking Prop/motors.

power consumption is better stated in watts than anything else.

e.g: a 3s setup pulling 50A (12v x 50A) is 600w, go to 4s at the same amps and you are pulling 800w, 8s @ 50A is closer to 1600w, you get the idea.... amps are not the only thing you need to know.

that is why a 4s 3000 weighs more than a 3s 3000..... it has more volts and more mAh

also an ESC might be rated to 60A, but you should look at the cell rating too, e.g a plush60 will go all day at 60A on 3s, but try 60A on 6s and it is gonna get damn hot really quick and for my money it is gonna burn.

doesnt really help Im afraid, you need to knwo whatyouve got but you dont get much paperwork with the motor and esc from readymaderc, beyond saying its "custom" so im left guessing

also my batteries are not in the drop down list either, have 2x nanotech 4000mah 4s 25/50c

poobah!

The Motor is pretty close to a "Hacker A30-10L-V2 (1185)" and the Battery you could use 4000 mAh 35/50c ( close to yours)

yes after seeing so many of Rocky and Brosius' exciting Z2 videos, I will refrain from posting my boring ones while I learn this ship.

good news .. my Zeph had a successful maiden today. Three flights - first one the roll stabilization refused to let the plane turn .. that was interesting. Then she flew great after some refinement, and help from a very helpful and knowledgeable friend (he's building a huge 78 inch Hercules wing also). Will be a dozen flights before I am comfy with this one, coming from a Easy star and other normal planforms.

Like others I too noticed some odd yaw oscillations going on - not always, just for a few seconds at a time. Does this go away with more air speed?
