You'd need another ESC for that. I've ordered an 18amp!

I don't want to get too skittish, but here's what I think, based on the clues and my past experience:

Horizon does it *right* -- including design, research, parts procurement, testing, shipping, etc.

However, sometimes, in early production, i,e, "post beta", a problem surfaces with production, materials, or design that just was not seen in early testing, but that needs to be handled prior to 'real' customers getting the product.

This leads to the need for 'rework' -- installing new or different parts, or changing/redoing an assembly step, etc.

I strongly suspect that these wires found just splayed out in the middle of the battery tray of my otherwise perfectly pristine looking model, with no heat-shrink over the middle of their conductive barrels, is the result of some sort of required hurried and/or outsourced rework.

I'll definitely redo the heat-shrink myself -- that's not even a minor irritant -- and also keep an eye on any other irregularities that might pop up.

I'm really looking forward to seeing some video of the QQ on 4s!

I was checking Hyp & TP, and noticed that neither company makes a high-discharge 3s or 4s pack in the QQ's capacity range. Hyp could add a cell or two to their 500 mAh 35c UMX pack, but TP doesn't have anything in between their 325 & 850 mAh 45 & 65c packs. Hmmm.....

Indeed. I'm thinking of strapping 2 of my 2S 450mAh 130x batteries together. May be a little heavy. I think a 380mAh 4S would be good.

Erkq,

A pair of Hyp 400 35c packs in series may also be a good choice. They definitely outperform the Hyp 450 25c packs in the 130X & Gee Bee. I suppose a pair of TP 325s in series would make her go like a bat outta hell, although flight-times would be a bit short for those who don't use throttle-management.

Hi Glenn,

Haven't seen you around the UM threads in quite awhile. How's it going? I bet there are a few people who would like a series harness for the 540QQ so they can run a pair of their larger 2s UMX packs in a 4s configuration. I'm still on the fence, but I will likely be picking one up.

So its a little after noon, which is when there's the most wind. But this threatre company wants me to come teach them at 4:30, during the golden half hour when there is almost no wind until sundown.
I have a closet full of AS3X planes, B&@* wind.
