I thought the Hype would be all over the Beast 3D!
Cant wait to add a 3D beast to the collection. |

Sadly, most likely, none.
Like all three, but at double the US price, and with the need for a DX6i, itīs out of the question... Looking for a DX6i, 2nd hand in Sweden, no luck yet after 3 months... Might get a new one, to open up for all theese wonderful UMīs. Tommy |

70% going for the Beast (alone or with another UMX as well). I was also thinking the Beast would be the winner. But the survey is not over yet! |

Beast & Gee Bee for sure (I'm already at the top of the list for both at my LHS). I'm thinking about picking up the Taxi for flying at our winter indoor sessions. Would be a blast to get a bunch of 'em together for some indoor combat!

If the release dates work out, I'll get the Geebee when it comes out and then let the wifey get me the Hyper Taxi for Christmas I'm not in a hurry to get another Beast, but I'll probably get that one eventually too. I like the mSR-X, but I fly the blades off my brushless mCP-X and don't see going back to a FP heli. The 450X is cool, but it's just too big for me since I mostly fly helis in my backyard. I'm sure they'll come out with a 120 sized CP eventually and that will be a day one buy for me when they do

Its the resolution that's important
There is a lot more to transmitters than expo or the lack thereof. Resolution is the key. All of the Spektrum bricks support 1024-step resolution. The DX6i has 1024-step resolution, while the cheapie transmitters have only 128 or maybe 256-step resolution. The lack of resolution makes much, much more difference than expo or no expo. It's a matter of precision. This is a big deal with large control-surfaces, large throws, and responsive airframes. The AS3X won't compensate for a transmitter with crappy resolution.
#1 rule of RC flying: Buy the the very best transmitter you can afford. If you can't afford a decent tx, save up until you can. It will be the best investment you will ever make in this hobby. An aircraft can only fly as well as the transmitter allows. There is no free lunch. Joel |

The servos, however, have enough backlash that anything more than 30 steps is not significant. |

The Hyper Taxi will be first, followed by the Gee Bee. I already have a Beast which flies very nicely, so the new one would be a duplication. I suspect that I eventually will get it though, just to see if it can turn me into a 3D flier.
I think the Hyper taxi will end up being the most fun to fly. Several years ago, I bought a kit for something similar. It was quite a build, even though it was all foam. I had seen talented flies do wonders with it indoors, but my experience was a quick climb followed by a tip over about 30 feet up and a screaming descent into the ground. After several tries, I repaired it, put it in a plastic bag and it has been hanging in the basement ever since. If the Hyper Taxi's new radio system allows me to fly it anywhere like the demos on video, then I will like it very much. I do think its a bit pricy for sheet foam, but I will get one anyway. Gerry |

I'm in transition job-wise, so I won't be buying anything till I get a new job and the related paychecks!
Given paychecks, I'd get the Hyper Taxi first, followed by the Beast. I have a Crazy Ball, a foamy kit that's a lot like the HT, but larger, and without the wide tail VTO and landing skids, and of course without the gyros. It's Crazy, to say the least. I really enjoy flying it, so I'm pretty sure that the HT will be a Blast to fly! I suspect it will be a little slow on initial sales. But then sales will soar when people see how versatile and fun it will be to fly. I liked the looks of the original Beast. I like biplanes. But when I saw determined people flying it inside in our church gym, I knew it was too fast for indoors. The new 3D Beast looks to be a totally different story, both indoors and outside! So I'd surely like one of them. Jim Marconnet |
