black + white goop scrapage needed

Kalmon kindly highlighted the areas in yellow on the little black squares (FETS) near the red and black motor wire leads
where my esc has too much goop--goop keeps too much heat in.

I understand the throttle cut off issues are due to heat from the glue but the issue happens immediately as in ice cold motor spins for like 5-10 seconds and cut off. That would be a heat issue that quickly? I would think heat issue would show after a minute or two... I just want to make sure before I got ripping this thing apart...

thanks!

Yea....I took erkq's advice here and ordered. Free fast shipping and lots of follow up with tracking numbers and even a bit of candy in the box to sweeten the deal. Awesome company if you need to order online. Thanks for the link ERKQ.

Thanks, it's on the way. For anyone interested, here is a buddy code price link for the Turnigy Nano-Tech 2s 35-70c 260mah with UMX connector ($3.63).

+1 for stable 3s!

+1 here for a now stable 3s beast 3d brick!

I had been plagued with cutouts after going to 3s (they got worse as winter turned to summer here in Texas). I had suspected that it was due to heat issues, although sometimes it seemed to cutout too quickly for that to be the case... I had tried throwing in a 12a esc, and that helped, but it would still cutout. The b3d sat on a shelf for many months, but then I saw erkq's post and others saying they had solved the cutout issue.

So I took the advice and dremeled a custom heatsink that I pulled off of an old video card, I used a minimal ammount of medium ca glue to secure it to the 3 FET's on the brick (after cutting away the excess white and black glue that was touching the FET's) (it would have been better to use a thermal glue to secure the heatsink, but i am on a budget and didn't want to get any). I also cut out a good air scoop out of the bottom of the fuselage that lets a good ammount of air in that will go right over my new heatsink.

I got about 13 3s flights in today, with ZERO cutouts or signs of issues! Remember this is in Texas' summer heat and humidity! I was even able to use my nanotech 3s 370's that I made custom out of some batteries I wasn't using in order to get 12 minute flights, with plenty of WOT to test the new heatsink!

Thank you to erkq and all who helped solve this issue, I now enjoy my 3sB3D again and i am no longer afraid to go above half throttle!

Attached is a picture of the scoop, sorry i didn't get one of the heatsink on the FET!

I had thermal shutdowns on my B3D in 15sec or less before I scraped the boatload of silicone glue off the ESC. I added a heatsink and small scoop to help keep things cool as well. Not a single cutout since.

I wonder if the faulty board issues were still a different issue from this overheating with the glue? The reason why I think this is because I could run mine on the ground trying to reproduce the cutout for minutes and not get it to cut out, but then in the air it would repeatedly cutout every flight after about a minute or less.

Funny how this thread has come to refer to boards that won't run 3S reliably as "faulty"!
