any decent 3s batts available that use the umx connector and not the minijst that are reasonably priced like the 2s hyperion 240 which is $11 shipped ?

I rather not solder on new connectors on the planes or on my 2s hyperions--though
perhaps Glenn makes an adapter....
Erkq,

Thanks for the kind words!

Flyrtim,

See RCBabbel for 3s Hyp 180 packs w/UMX connector & a balance tap that are nearly the same weight as the stock 2s pack. See Glenn for a charging cable to fit your aftermarket charger. Be sure to tell him that you're charging a 3s Babbelbatt.

Regarding the DeoxIT - you want to spray it into into the wiper area. I use it whenever a servo starts to get jittery. Happens about every 20-30 hours on my mCP X. I have over 90 hours on original servos. So far, the mCP X is the only UM on which I use DeoxIT as part of a regular PM routine.

I don't know if you guys have looked at navigation lights for your Beasts but I installed them a couple of days ago and they look pretty bad a$$. You put them on your gear switch (channel 5) so you can turn them on & off. They're really tiny and light and they don't appear to affect the flight times. www.sf-design-solutions.com

Check them out.

The wiper & resistive strip are right under the jackscrew. Usually, you can just spray the cleaner into the opening along the jackscrew. I'm not sure where it lives, but there is a servo cleaning/disassembly tutorial somewhere in the UM threads.

Hmmm.... never mind. I took off the hatch, manually centered the mechanics, and now she's working fine. Bizarre though....

Dogfight: 2300kv vs 3000kv motor

I posted my review of the 2300kv vs the 3000kv motor over on the other Beast thread here.

Great review of the options

Love my B3D flying on 240mAH Hyperion 2s with GWS 5030. Have been looking for more performance and hovering on 2300kv, 3000kv or going 3s

Hmmmmmm

Brian or others,

Did you ever try my 3S combo?

Stock motor (2500Kv) GWS 5030 prop??

My motor is barely warm after a flight.
I've never experienced OCP or OTP, ever.
I've flown in 80 temps.

3s is very, very tempting. Even if the batteries do have to come from half a world away

RC do you need to do anything to the brick for 3s....or just "plug em in and fly" ?

I just checked the HH site and they have the AS3X receiver back in stock... for those waiting for a warranty replacement, hopefully they're shipping them out soon :-)

Just plug and fry...er..fly! j/k but even though there have been no reported failures of AS3X bricks on 3S it is still at your own risk. That said it is REALLY fun!

RC I've tried the B3D on all the known normal setups.
2500/5030- 2S 3S
2500/5x3x3 - 2s
2500/stock prop - 2S
3000/5030 -2S 3S
3000/5x3x3 - 2S
2300/5043 - 2S 3S

I left out the 2500 from the review as it definitely is the lowest performance of the 3 and there are tons of reports on it already.

As a general rule on 3S any motor that works is 200% better than any combo on 2S. The trouble for me was finding a combo that worked on 3S without my weak brick shutting it down in flight!

The main reason I have the 3000kv motor in there is it has the best overall performance on 2S. I live out of town and the noise doesn't bother me at all. I kinda like it, it is still <25% of even the quietest gassers.

If you are looking for hovering the 3000kv and a 5030 is probably the best i've found so far. I do plan on testing my 2300 with my custom5530 and a stock gws 6030. If the 6030 works well it "should" provide the best hovering as the prop disc is larger, if the motor can swing it effectively. All very theoretical at this point as there is a lot that goes on when changing prop sizes.

Got my 3s fix !!

Thanks to RCBabbel, I rec'd 3 more 180 3s packs this week for outstanding B3D performance. If you haven't tried it you should, you will never go back to 2S.

Thanks again RC,
KF
