Ed Lyerly, Genious? Or Mad Scientiest???

Ed, i took your suggestion for my .46 sized UCD3D, which i powered with a jeti 45-3 and 12 cells. you suggested i use 16 cells, with a 2:1 reduction gear, and a 16/8 prop.

it works super for me. i have more power, and it flys wonderfully.

now however, my wife accuses me of talking in tongues or something. she says i wake up at night saying :THUNDER POWER", and "LI-PO" and talking strange numbers like "4S5P"

does this mean im becoming addicted ???AAAAHHHHH!!!!!

quick!!! what is the cure???

lol
ty again very much for your help...

I don't know Ed, and I don't fly alot of 3D (None), but with the knowlege that he has locked away, he should be sitting on the top of a mountain dispensing wisdom;

Sweaty Ezoner; "Great Guru, what is the secret of life?"

Ed; "The secret of life is a highly positive thrust to weight ratio, with minimum amperage draw and voltage drop."

Rich,
I'm flattered ....... thanks for your kind words . I'm just a hopeless gearhead, revving them high and gearing them deep, while turning a big prop . Heck, I even gear stuff that ought to be DD .....just ask the "outrunner" contingent .
I'm glad to hear that your U-Can-Do 40 now does what it needs to do to make you a happy e flier . Go easy on the full throttle (short bursts only) as the 45/3 won't like the high amps in long WOT runs. Do you have a Whattmeter ? What is it pulling static at WOT ? About 50 amps I would guess.

Sorry about the "addiction" . There is no cure .....but.....you now have the tools to "infect" others .

For those suffering from Lipo addiction, Let me introduce Lipos Anonymous.
This is a 12 step do it yourself program.
Step1 Say after me: I admit that I am powerless over my addiction to lipos.
Step 2 Give all your lipos to me.
step 3 Make up the other 9 steps.

Another term....

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Ed face to face, he is also just an all around great guy! He is the only hardcore electric guy in our club. And let me tell you, he catches a ton of grief from all of us "slimers".

Hey Ed,

What happens when you reverse two of those wires on a brushless controller?

I'm a member of the Ed Lyerly Fan Club, and can vouch for his "real life" persona as well. Great Guy says it all for me. The fact that he knows a ton and dispenses his knowledge freely and without judgment is a testament to his character.

Ed is one of the gems in our community, and I am proud to call him my friend.
