Hoping for an early December indoor fun-fly

The North Penn High School Model Aviation Club usually hosts an indoor fun-fly in the beginning of December. They haven't posted a date yet for it because the athletic director is still working a few things out. Apparently the sports teams still have precedence.

They are in Lansdale, which is southeastern Pa. (19446).

As soon as I get the date I will post it on RC Groups.

I'm the adviser to the club,
Mike

Oh man, they just had a huge one a couple of weeks ago at Blue and Gray R/C in Gettysburg. Most clubs are kind of hunkering down for the winter now. I sort of wish they wouldn't, there is great flying weather up to about the end of November around here.

There used to be KEFF, but that giant dome got blown down, I doubt they will have it repaired in time for any event this year.

There is the JR Indoor in Columbus Ohio the first weekend in November, there is an event in Northern Ohio, East side of Cleveland, in December.

As far as I know there will still be KIEF 2012......as long as they get the dome repaired. I hope so, although I can't see it taking a year and a half to replace the dome itself, so long as the insides of the dome are in good shape.

Repairing the dome isn't the issue. The dome owners are embroiled in a legal battle over the fact that the dome has repeatedly collapsed over the years, and has been far more expensive to operate than originally anticipated. There's a good chance it may not go back up at all. If not, I really hope the Muncy Indoor Flyers will find another venue and continue to host the event.

I know these folks have had some terrible luck with this event. The first problem was 2008. That event--although not as large as subsequent events was to take place in March. A snow and ice storm on Valentines day collapsed the dome in Jessup,PA where the event was to be held. The dome location is now a parking lot for trailers--the 18 wheel type.
There is a dome in Wilkes Barre--not nearly as large as Muncy--but it might be a bit too small.
I hope the dedicated guys and gals who came up with this event can find a suitable venue. It was a great event.
