The basics of building RC aircraft motor where rotor is permanent magnet?

Hi to all,

I have strong (probably NEO) cylindrical magnets radially magnetized, but something coated outside with some hard material heavy to remove: long 40mm, diameter 15mm. It looking to me good to use like rotor for making RC aircraft motor.

What kind of RC aircraft motor I can build with it?

Please tell me about construction, windings, what kind of stator controller I need ...

I saw your question but I can't really visualize the size and shape of the magnets you are asking about. Maybe some photos of the magnets or something would help.

Many of us are rewinding motors that were sold as running motors. That does not normally involve building from scratch. Go through all the links on the sticky post about CD-ROM motors and look at some of the threads and you can see some of the mechanics of the motors.

Here is a manual for a motor that was sold as a kit, you can see all the parts involved and how they are assembled:

Maybe I don't understand at all.......but I can't imagine a single pole inrunner.

I assume it is just a 2 pole magnet.

an inrunner with that magnet would not be so good.

I am sorry, like a newbie I did not understand even yours terminology here, so title of this my thread should be just: "Basic of brushless inrunner motor?" (with two pole permanent magnet).

But what would problem with two pole magnet? Low speed, or something?

What you think about idea to put two pieces of these magnets in serial (on same shaft), than turn one of them for 90 degrees by axis.

It would be long 4 pole piece rotor, than half of stator windings should be organized around first magnet, and half around second.

Such brushless inrunner motor would be long, but because of half number of stator windings around each of magnets there is less space required for stator windings, so motor can be thin. :-))

Sorry if I boring with this but I have many of these magnet I would like to use, so please what you think?
