Would the ARC-28-48-2 2170kv be a good bl32 replacement? ARC-28-37-3 2500kv looks like a 5s , maybe a ARC-28-37-2.5 2800... anyone test any of these?

The 2848-2 should work fine up to 6s, but the HET 2W30 is likely a better choice, its been well tested and its a tough long can motor.

i'd be better off with a bl-32 price is a factor.... Arc motors are strong motors ,eazy to find also used...bl32 go fast!!

not sure if you know this but it is a critical factor to consider
one diff between these motors your talking about is the shaft size, the het and arc motors your discussing are 3.17mm, the bl32 is 5mm............larger is better especially on 5 or 6s setups.........dont use any 3.17mm shaft motor if your are going to run 6s IMO!!
are you going to balance the fan yourself or are you planning on buying a prebuilt and balanced edf unit? what pieces do you have already? how much is your time worth? it can take hours to assemble and balance an edf unit properly even if you know how to do it. buying the right parts can make this easy, buying the wrong parts can make it impossible.

Except, you will need to buy an aftermarket 5mm shaft adaptor then.

The smaller the shaft the better you better balance the rotor! 3.17mm is painful... weak.

Yup the 2W30 are all 4mm shaft now, and the new shaft adapters coming with the CS fans seem to be much better than the old ones, they are now collet style, I will try one out this week as I have the CS12 rotors and spinners on hand to test as well.

Price, well I can ship a 2W30 to the USA for AUD$83.00, and it will run with the stock 4mm collet adapter, the BL32 is around 72 bucks right? plus an adapter at 12+ and shipping, gonna be 90 bucks or more, then you gotta compare the figures too, doesnt the BL32 pull a few more amps than the 2W30 on 6s?

The smaller the shaft then the better you had better have balanced it all.
Even better (sheesh) would have been..... The smaller the shaft the more accurate you better have balanced the rotor.
Because imbalance could flex and then bend the shaft!
4mm are quite strong really. 5mm would be "unbendable"?
3.17mm definitely in far more danger of bending!

Not unbendable but it changes the frequency of vibration that the shaft might encounter on a marginally balanced rotor. It also raises the force required to make it bend or break.

<---Dealing with 64mm fans on 3mm shafts at the moment! OH the pain and annoyance!! Grrrr....

4mm makes a huge difference in a 28mm motor, 5mm even more so, 5mm is like having an 8mm shaft on a 700 series motor, its very easy to get things dynamically balanced. I can do 4mm builds pretty quick, dynamic final balancing of spinner is very simple and repeatable, 3.17 is much more tricky.

That 2100kv will smoke on 6s... Edfhobbies 90mm 5s 2400kv 32mm 5mm shaft outrunner looks good for 6s... tams shaft adapters in a het fan shroud "stand off" wood spacer with a added 5mm bear 450 heli 5mm main shaft $70 I have the shrouds ... standoff knive liddle style...
