Today I flew my old and trusty F-4j with the CS10 and the LX 2855 2100kv on 5s 40c.

The ESC was a HK 90A.

All went ok. very fast and a bit noisy.

Also, I don't think I got more than 60 amps on the 2300kv motor on 5s....anyone else get more amps than that?

If it's a negative for others check your esc
40c and a 75A HET ESC.

I'm sure it's in here somewhere.... Can anyone recommend a motor for a 4s setup? Thanks

My 4S Setup

This motor:

This ESC:

This UBEC:

This Battery:

I have this setup in a Venom F-86 Sabre jet and it lasts 3.5 minutes with maybe one go around at most. The battery comes down warm to the touch, not hot. The ESC is cool to the touch. It outputs 900 to 1000 watts of power easily. It bursts to 1500 watts on startup.

I am going to go to a Nano-Tech 4S-35C-4500 to try to get 4 minutes next.

RGS, I tried that motor and it's not as silent as expected. How's the sound in yours?

Got that same Motor/fan combo in my FW F-16, (see 2nd part of below video).

Certainly does put out some power but at high amps (around 85amps peak from memory) which can be pretty hard on the lipos.

Also I find those CP motors aren't very well balanced and need dynamically balancing if you want to get the setup really smooth.

Still, not bad for the bucks but a HET or similar will be alot better IMO (balance and efficiency).

Not silent at all really. I was a bit disappointed in that aspect. But I was pleased with the power and speed.

Nice flight Goody

I think those CP motors aren't as balanced as the advertising makes them out to be.

I ended up adding quite abit of weight to mine and it still wasn't perfect.

That's what I love about HET inrunners. You mount them (without the rotor) in the dynamic balancer and they barely register.

Makes a great starting point for getting a nice smooth (and quiet) EDF.

Cheers for the flight comment! too

+1 on that Dave.

Even the Turnigy L2855s are better.

For best thrust, what timing are you guys using on the L2855 2100kv? Medium or high? Also 8 or 16khz?
