Maybe some of you can give me your opinion on the best motor to use with a 3300mah 4s 40-80c pack and CS fan?

Long story short.. I have the turnigy motor already and the tacon motor is in route from HP. I just can't make up my mind.. Any thoughts?

Turnigy L2226-3000kv
4S 25C
Vm: 14.3
Ap: 66.38
Wp: 949.8
Thrust(kg): 1.51
g/w: 1.59

Or

Tacon 2858-2618kv
4S 30C
Vm 15.00
Ap 60.00
Ws 778.0
Thrust(kg) 1.47
*g/w: 1.89

Looking at the data I would expect more headroom with the Tacon motor for 4 & 5S operation.

Well fan clearance is just a hair over 1/16" on the fans to the WeMo shrouds, and throttle range has been checked (I had thought about that too) even maxed out didn't change it.

I'd be blaming the esc settings, but these motors were slugs to begin with, with the 6904 fans. I'm really beginning to doubt the kv ratings. I did a little digging and I find the motor is listed either as a 2980 kv or a 3020. With the watts and amps I'm getting, compared to the tested ones on the chart, it looks like more like somewhere around 2400 kv.

Got me. I just wish HK would get some 2100 or 2300's in. Least I know those will work.

From what I gather its to do with controlling swirl angles from the moving blades and getting the best straight flow of air out the back.
All parts are not equal......also what about tip space is that the same for both fans?
Clive ....to elaborate.
The air stream exits the blade area rotating in the same direction as the fan wheel. The guide vanes attempt to change the airflow to nearer axial to improve efficiency. Generally fan manufacturers settle on a particular guide vane configuration irrespective what fan "species" they supply.
Its probably not too important from an airflow viewpoint...what is important there be a different number of guide vanes to the number of fan blades otherwise sound resonance will be set up at blade passing frequency.

Tip clearance needs to be smaller as developed pressure increases.
A low pressure fan like an "Expelair" wall type has a huge clearance to maximize efficiency.
A high pressure fan has a small clearance to minimize "leakage" downstream to upstream. In the case of our EDF's it would be best to have as small a gap as reasonably possible without risking blades touching.

It should fly at least once

I agree with you re the tip clearance and the number of static vanes but I was under the impression that the number and angle of them was critical to efficiency as well. Anyway its all fluid mechanics which is way above my head but I would think that certain fans will work well or better in some shrouds than others and some worse. Just got to find the best combination.
Tamjets talks about this subject on one of his vids...........

Might as well run a minifan if you going to remove half the blades!

No I think they are talking about 5 stator blades.

Hi, has anyone used this fan on a eflite bae hawk or f-86 sabre?
Because a friend of mine gave both of them to me, but without the power system. This fan sounds great but I don't know if it would be enough, and if so, with what kv motor? I have read through this thread looking for some guidance...

hi guys I have a question. I have a himax ha2825-3600kv

Motor, how do you guys feel this on the cs10 blade fan?? I know this motor runs the multiplex twister pretty good but not that fast on 3s, I tried 4s once long time ago and it fried the motor, but im thinking on 3s cs10blade fan it should be pretty good?? Please let me know before I even try to mess with it.

Kv is way too high. Maybe 3S?

Try it, measure the numbers, post the results. Contribute!

thats what im asking how do you guys think it will be on 3s

on 4s the motor burns with the 5 blade, if you dont do the cooling ring etc.. but im thinking 3s on the 10blade what you guys think?

they showing the F-22 flying with 3s 5000mah 3500kv

motor. SO i know it will fly but not sure what fan they were using. Can someone calculate or show me how to calculate the numbers based on 3600kv on 3s with this 10blade fan?
