A custom Tamjet 1512 2y motor with heat sink and CC Phoenix Edge lite 120HV all-in-one unit. It also has very lite FPV gear in it. Almost went with a 160Amp because it is more efficient, but weight is more important than speed to me. Looking for a lite as possible FPV 12S Habu 32X.I will eventually do a speed run on it but, I will be flying my FPV capable 7S Habu for a while first.

Hi Scott,

Firstly, be certain of the motor you have.

The 1512/2Y is 1100KV

1512/3.5D is 1350kv (not 1380)

I just saw your post about the kv in the other thread. How did you determine the kv of the motor you have?

http://www.effluxrc.com/Jetfan-80mm-...t-JF-80EDF.htm see picture. Just not sure about my setup. I would like to run it on 12s, just not WOT very often.
It' a bit short, but it should be fine at 1350-1380 kv and under the amps shown on the JF chart for the 700-68-1400. At less than probably ~119-124A installed, (109 on the bench) it should be fine with the heat sink and some TM. I have not dat for the Wemo rotor

I mentioned and posted the JF info for reference. I have no data for the Wemo rotor for that kv /cell count. But, The wemo rotor is lighter loaded than the JF. (less amps - Less thrust). So that will further lower the numbers in favor of that set up running cooler.

Scott, remember if you want to go faster than TJ, use the Effluxrc setup!

200+ reliably! I know I have many flights at the sticks

the 1412-2y is 1380kv and thats what I thought Tam used for his 12s runs in the beginning

Tam said it is 1380. Nue did too, when I called them.1100 is a typo. The math does not allow it to be 1100. 1y is 2750kv/2=1375kv. 3y is 920 kv/.66666=1380kv. The kv of the 1512 2y really is 1380.

My motor is bigger, has greater surface area, and can handle more watts. But can it handle 12S with a jf rotor is the question. With proper throttle, I think it can.??

why not just run it and check the amp draw that will tell you what you wish to know

there's no question the motor can handle the rotor.....ts just what is the amp draw and is the 120a esc big enough ....... I personally would be shocked if you were over 120a..... I think 110a is where you'll be

I think your about right. I will just check it. Spooling up that fast the first time always scares me bit

I don't disagree but, I have Elactras' that will go over 200mph when done. They are bigger EDF jets. I will not get over 200mph with either Habu. I know it can be done but, the habu that does will be a "race jet" not a lite, fast Sunday flier, like I am hoping to build. Hoping for around 8 pounds with FPV gear.
If all I wanted is speed, I would get a Het 12S 700 98 1530kv or Het 14S 700 98 1270kv. I don't think Gary stocks them, but he can probably get them. All way too heavy for me though.

Totally agree, was not sure your focus. Gary's 12s setup was definitely a race jet. I did do some mellow flights with it but it is a rocket ship. All in all have fun!

Doing over 200mph with a Habu is pretty wild. But definitely a good time!

Brent had the first 200+ blistering run! So awesome, really intense to fly because the profile on the Habu, but what a rush!
