I think its what there going to be used for. they are originally car motors so you dont want cooling holes, lets the dirt in but if you select tacon edf motors thats how he ordered his and it came with the cooling holes so it does depend on which motor you order because the edf selection is small he ordered the 3674-2 1700kv and in the picture there are no cooling holes so I think this is a new upgrade to the motor

got some pics

this is my motor and the question is will it fit in this fan, im thinking i would have to put some kind of spacer for the gap. seeing this motor is setup for a 39mm can. My intentions were to put this in a wemotec midfan to put in my cmp t-45 on a 8s setup. I have a cs 90mm regular fan i could try seeing people have been running up to 12s on that fan. That is until i get a better fan

it will be fine in the cs/5 blade or wemo on 8s, its the cs/12 blade fan that you would have to run it on 6s and still be around 100amps

is the cs/12 a 40mm motor tube?

Just a thought you mention 3 short runs...if they are in quick succession it might be a big ask, as I guess this will draw max amps & the residual heat may not have had an opportunity to dissapate before being hit again......just my 2c.

I know its more than $40, but NEU has 1415/2.5D motors for $124 for "light" 6s setups.

I let it cool for a few min inbetween...But I still think with no cooling holes it heat soaked....so yea just too much to take it...each run was mabe 20 sec only...and no more than 3 sec at WOT

My CS 12 blade Tacon 1700kv on 8s flew apart. If you run the same power system, stay clear and let us know how it goes.

I'm pretty sure I ordered from the Tacon EDF Jet motor section, but my motor does not have the cooling holes.

Does that mean I will have to go through the customer service nightmare of trying to exchange my motor for the right one?

I believe mine came on Moday...

Around 2-3 weeks ago I ordered the 1700kv motors. They came with the holes. Then on my second order of the exact same part number, the motors that showed up were without holes.

Could just be another shipment without holes.???

I may go there after the holidays (best way to get a clear answer) and ask about the different configurations.

is it the same motor? if it is I would want the one with cooling holes for sure, if you notice the pic of the motor it does not show the cooling holes so this must be a new upgrade to the motor.

Steve,

It would be great if you could get an answer for us and maybe an idea as to what kind of a rat race we may need to go through to get an exchange.

8S on nominal 3.7 voltage/cell fan will try to run @ 50,320 RPM
Newly charged maybe 4.2 V = 57,120 RPM
X-Flite reccomend 45,000 RPM Max
Over that = poof bang......

Hi Bob,
I was with Steve when his fan let go...after looking at the data logger it showed it went at about 42k rpm and it was at 4.2k watts
I think it was the 1900KV not the 1700
