1600kv from x-flight


I thought I would get more from this combination. 70amps, on 6s. Has anyone else had similar results? Seems like the motor may not be 1600kv. Lipos are brand new 5000 mah, 30c from value hobby. Voltage stays right at 21 volts.

Something is very wrong.
What motor, what ESC and what settings on
the ESC?

Esc is a turnigy 120a hv timing is set at 8khz. motor is a outrunner that came with the fan from xflight.

I got one of those but didn't use the motor.
It seems a bit above average 'cheapie' in its construction and weight, so it should do into the 90Amps area easily.
My 3025-1500kv, which is not a hefty a motor, does 97Amp peak and drops off to low 90's. So this X-Flight 1600kv should do more than that too.

I don't think it explains it all, but your 30C battery will be a limiting factor. It will drop motor Volts a lot, like you saw, and thus Amps go down too... thus total power (Watts/Thrust) down too. But I would not expect to the 70Amps area.... maybe in the 80's somewhere.

They claim 86A, and from the look of the motor and the numbers (1600kv) I would expect it will do that AT LEAST. That is like a 'good' number showing realistic use, not peak as usual - not advertising inflated hype!
So I am not sure where your power loss is.....

Oh.. was that IN a plane???? I suspect so.
Though most decent ducted planes would still be in the 80A's.

Yes, it is in the plane. I suspect the motor may not be what I it's supposed to be, or what about battery wire length and gauge? I have about a 1 foot battery extension that is 10 awg wire going to a series adapter using deans connectors.

Set PWM to 16. Timing low is fine. You should see around 80a.
10 gauge wire is fine. Deans not so good.... I use 5.5mm connectors with no problems.
The motor is not the problem. I have set up a few of these with good results. Just takes some time to dynamically balance.

What plane is that X-Flight CS12 1600kv in????
Did it have something before? And if so, what result had you had with that?

This is a new cmp t45, never been flown. tried the higher timing with no change. i'm going to try another esc later just to eliminate any issues that i might have with the turnigy dlux. thanks for all lthe suggestions

You really need to check it out on a bench to get the true baseline ability known. Then you will know what the plane causes.

strange reading here today. I got my change sun fan, installed it after glueing with gorrila glue and leaving over night. Also I ballanced it. SO I installed it on my 1400kv turnigy motor, 5500 mah 35C 7s lipo and I got 67-70 amps and roughly 1600 watts. If I can keep my Eflight F4 Phantom to within 8 lbs then I'll have 200watts per lbs. I was expecting far better results and more amps from a 7 cell battery though.

Any thoughts?

Volts are pretty low for 7s, get a cell checker and see what where the cells are under load

I have the XK4074-1400kv running 7S and am getting 2300-2400watts.
Your batteries may not be up to snuff.

Did you use an inlet lip?

Yes, you have to watch out what numbers you THINK you had, and have posted....
1600W / 70A = 22.8V.... which is WAY too low for 7S.
Running only 1600w the battery should virtually drop no volts. eg run close to the 25.9v of 7S.
This voltage drop would not happen unless the system was running at full power.. and WORSE really. So if it was those volts then it is likely to be the battery that caused it.

I suspect you didn't really record them with much accuracy. Maybe taking the peak Amps for a start. But the Avg Watts?

I have the XK3674-1400kv running on 7S and it does a bit over 2000W.
(I have not tried the XK4074-1400kv on anything but 6S).

Re-Do the tests and video it with a mobile phone so you can view it all later on a PC and check values at any point in time.
