stiff antenna for 433Mhz UHF Rx ?

Hello guys,

for my next install im trying to find a stiff (non flexible) antenna for my Chainlink UHF 433mhz Rx.

does anyone know of any kind of stiff antenna for it ? perhaps a whip of some sort (but could be any kind) ?

the stock antenna is a dipole made of 2 flexible wires, so i even thought about building a dipole on my own using 2 stiff thick conductors - if thats possible, what are good conductors to use ? perhaps 1/8" brass tubes or similar ?

just stick some plastic tubing over the wires or brace them with something stiff. a 2 y/o could figure this out.

I've been seeing your question about stiff antennas all over the place for THE LAST MONTH, what's the deal?

use piano wire that is not to flexable

you will need to go pretty fast inorder to need a very stiff antenna

plastic tubeing will work well and stand up to pretty fast speeds

watch the start of this video, I did some testing regarding this a while ago

piano wire however seems to work the best for range and high speeds

Testing Thomas' system for long range (4 min 36 sec)

Thanks David, but im also trying to source something more scale looking (if at all possible).

since this model will fly only right side up (no aerobatics) i figured a good whip will probably work, but i may be mistaken. for video it sure works well.

i feel like a fool, why would i talk to somebody online in a way I wouldn't face-to-face? My apologies i3dm.

But really, what is the antenna going on?

no harm no foul !

the antenna is goin on this plane, hence the need for something scale (and not just a plastic tube hanging off of it..hehe):

I don't do long range, only tested middle range for 4km and it's ok.

I took this one: http://store.flytron.com/antennas/10...z-antenna.html

The original dipole was too big for my little quad.

I used multiplex push rod sleeves to some antennas but I found they break so easily loading into your car or what not..

When you say piano wire do you literally mean piano wire? it's metal no? Could that cause radio problems? Would this "straightened" piano wire on amazon do the trick?

I like trappy's neon colored sander style antennas, I wonder what that is / where to get it.

I can't see how a sander style antenna looks more scale at all?

piano wire antennas would look the thinest and hardest to see if that is what you mean

you need some simple soldering experience however, just use lots of solder paste with a hot iron and sand the piano wire to clean it up first
