My very own Wind Buster!

Hey guys-

Just had to share this... I know several of you have seen the "what to fly on windy day's" posts.. Well.. In one of them, there's a really neat looking plane that Air Mover has, well I too now have my very own wind buster, thanks to Air Mover!

I just thought I'd share the pics.. This thing looks like it's going to be a blast to fly! Can't wait to try it..

Lookin' Good. Real Good.

That looks fun...Razor 2500 would look sweet on that.

Looks good. I don't know about performance in the wind though.

Hey Jeff looks good !!!!!! Im looking forward to you flying it..This plane can handle unlimited power.. so bust a move and make it hit 100mph.. hehehe If anyone else would like one let me know I dont mind helping out.. the plane as you see it there wieghs around 1.5oz ... I have flown it with many diffrent power plants from a gws 50 4.8v motor geared 2.5ratio to a 300 size motor..
This wing can handle up to 10oz wingloading with ease.

Here are two Wind Buster Planes .. the smaller one was made for 10 to 20 mph winds the other will dart through 30mph winds with ease...

Woah! They are much smaller than I thought from looking at Jeff's pic. What's the wingspan? Cool little planes! AM, what part of Texas are you in?

They sure do look cool!
Do you build then ship them, AM?
I'm in the UK, I'd love some plans or construction
methods if you've got them going!?

Think Jeffs wing turned out around 22in Tres.. not sure though.. anywhere between 20 and 24in spans should provide good lift for 5 to 10 oz planes.. I made a new wing just like Jeffs flew it today about 20 mins ago .. the plane has a landing gear and flew off the pavement in less then 7 feet.. The trick is hand sanding a good airfoil .. this is not a flat plate wing..

I have flown the larger wing with a speed 400 6v It was very fast .. and unlimited vertical.. just the run time was low... thirsty motors.. If you want to go cheap slap a speed 300 6v on there. use the new high amp..700 lilpoly cells and prop it for 6amps just keep your motor wieght selection at or under 2oz that will help you balance out the plane .

What kind of airfoil does it use flat sheets or ribs with balsa sheeting, or...?

Any plans or kits?

What I do is select some good 1/4 balsa and hand carve a airfoil clark Y at the root and semisymetrical at the tips.. If anyone wants one Just send me a message.. I build them for 30 bucks .. what you get is hinged surfaces horns installed .. landing gear installed tail skid.. elevator servo mount installed .. Rx and speed control mount installed.. battery mount comes with the kit but not installed use that to help set the CG .. all you need is wheels and your radio gear and power plant.. The wing is hand sculpted with built in washout ...
