Me-109x Fictitious Variant

My latest scratchbuilt is a fictitious (could-have-been) variant of the Me-109. It looks like an Me-109 fuselage with Curtis P-40 wing and tail.

The fuselage has balsa sheet sides with liteply formers and foam turtledecks. A little DollarTree foamboard was thrown in here and there too. The wing is foam with a hardwood spar, and fiberglass in the center. All tail surfaces are balsa. The wing bolts to the fuselage. Has shock-absorbing landing gear.

The canopy was cut from a soda bottle and uses duct tape for framing. Machine guns are hardwood dowels, and vinyl tape gives the spinner that German corkscrew effect. Film covering was from HobbyKing (good stuff, but not my best job, difficult with foam).

Wingspan 36", RTF weight 31.1 oz, wing loading 18.4 oz/ft2. Airfoil is a 12% Clark-Y. Powered by an Exceed Monster 10 with APC 10x6E prop, Turnigy 3S1800 lipo. Pulls about 30 amps and produces about 330 watts.

First flights were on October 08 2011, and it flies quite well. Oh, forgot to mention, it uses my signature single aileron.

This is a one-off plane with no plans, and no plans to draw plans.

Thanks. It's not paint, it's film covering from HobbyKing.

Thank's, i got it

I'm a real beginner so may i ask if you draw all lines to film or to foam before film covering ?
Did you first cover with lighter colour film overall and add darker areas with pieces afterwards ?

Are those colours 116 and 112 in your plane? Bottom 115?

It still looks really pretty

kariky: If you mean draw lines to size the covering pieces for cutting, I use a Sharpie to draw on the back "backing" of the covering, on the piece that will be peeled away and discarded.

You are correct on the top colors, gray and olive green, but the bottom is white (113).
