I emailed Sid a few days ago with the same question.

His answer was they would be back in stock before 3-10-2012.

Well, you need the RangeLink transmitter and receiver and a way to power them.

Correct, I think that is for Chainlink. The RangeLink updates with a USB>TTL adapter.

The program Sid sends out to do the updates is very easy to use too.

Make sure you go into control panel and ports and assign the correct com port. It's a breeze to update and you will need to power the rx and the TX when you do it as the USB power isn't enough.

I didn't have to mess with COM ports. It chose COM4 and that worked fine.
Do be sure to swap your Tx/Rx wires when you hook it up though.
Tx pin on USB2TTL board goes to Rx pin on RL TX/Rx and so forth.
Sid told me that when powering the RL Tx, to put it in low power (range check) mode.

>rangelink tx v1.23/rangelink rx v1.22
1.fixed interference with 1280 vrx;
2.change rssi to true rssi, before it shows packet rate, now packet rate need read over the uart port.
3.fs setting request 3-5s, before 7-15s;

Where can I get the firmware from, do I have to mail Sid?

Tutorial For Updating Firmware

Here's how i upgraded my Rangelink TX and RX and hopefully it can help you,

What You Will Need

1. PC With Windows XP, Vista, 7
2. USB 2TTL Cable ( I used this, you dont need to change the wires and it will directly plug in) http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-TTL-3P-M...ht_2369wt_1026
3. Rangelink System
4. Your Radio with a battery for your RL TX and RX

Steps to upgrade:

1. Email Sid : [email protected] for the new firmware
2. Download the correct driver http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/P...CPDrivers.aspx
3. Download the zip file sent to you in your email
4. Extract the files to your desktop (or any folder)
5. Open the file and read the readme.txt file
6. Find the file flashlinkprj.txt and change it to flashlinkprj.exe (here's how to do it http://www.mediacollege.com/microsof...on-change.html
7. You should see this icon now

8. Plug in your USB2TTL adapter and let windows recognize it
9. Plug in your USB2TTL into your Rangelink TX
10. Open flashlinkprj.exe
11. Turn on your RLTX in MICRO MODE
12. Choose COM4 or COM3 (COM4 Worked for me)
13. Click Get info, you should see something like this (version # is different since i upgraded mine already)

14. Click Open and choose the correct package for your TX or RX

15. Click Send , and it should look something like this

16. When it says
Update Successful!
Set Target To Running! , you can unplug your TX
17. Repeat the same steps for your receiver except that you need to choose the firmware that says rl-rx-XXXX
(XXXX) is the different firmware packages

18. You're done!!! Have a Safe Flight
