Bulk Readi-Board (Dollar Tree foamboard) shipped directly to you?

It is apparent that Dollar Tree foamboard (Readi-Board brand) serves a very valuable use to some of us in the foamie scratchbuild community but that it is not accessible or convenient to acquire for all of us.

I have determined from the manufacturer that it may be possible to obtain larger quantities directly from them at a cost that is less than the $1 price at Dollar Tree. Of course the trade-off is the shipping cost and the bulk requirement. Additional benefits are that they manufacture all variety of colors that are not available at Dollar Tree.

I would like to ask the community if there is any interest in placing larger quantities of Readi-Board, shipped to your door, and if so, what would be a fair price per sheet of foamboard.

Please give your opinion on the attached poll.

Vote once for the largest threshold quantity you would order (the most you would order at once).

Vote a second time for your break-even, highest fair per-sheet cost shipped to your door. By comparison, Dollar Tree would be $1-1.12 depending on tax, plus the time, trouble, and fuel to go buy it. Maybe you've got a Dollar Tree in your neighborhood, and $1 is all you would pay. Maybe there's not a Dollar Tree for 500 miles, and $2 a sheet would be good.

If you read this and are not interested, please still vote as such so we'll have more valid poll results.

This is for the standard 20"x30" foamboard sheets. Also assume there would be some additional choices of color, probably mix and match. Samples appear here: http://www.adamsplasticsinc.com/index.php/readi-board

Thanks for your input!

As stated this is great if there is no Dollartree near you. If there is a Dollartree near you you can buy 50 sheets for $50.00 and have it delivered to the store next to you. On thier website Dollartree offers this, but the only colors are black and white at 50 sheet minimun.

The advantage to this is if your Dollartree is always out, or doesn't carry the foamboard this would be the way to get it.

Could you ask the manufacture if it would be possible to buy in bulk with NO PAPER coating? Taking the paper off takes time and doesn't always work great.

It would be nice to get some of the larger 36x48 sheets.

I and two of my flying buddies have contacted Adams Plastics before.
... They were not interested in sending small shipments to individual customers.

36x48 sheets would be very cool of the foam is in color and not just the paper.

#1 Define what a "bulk purchase" consists of. If the truckload is $10,000 (just tossing a number out there) then you need 100 people willing to spend $100 each (plus something to cover the shipping or 50 people willing to spend $200 (plus shipping) to get how much board?

... so find out what quantity of board comes in a "bulk purchase" and if everyone strips the paper off anyways, what kind of dollars are we talking about for a bulk purchase with no paper?

Without knowing the price per box, it's pretty tough to vote on this. I have room for 5 boxes pretty easily. If I could get it in color and without paper, I might be willing to buy far more than I'm buying now at $1 a sheet.

Without a price... at least within a small margin, and some kind of shipping estimate, what am I voting on and how meaningful is any vote?

If you have $10k plus, it would be best to order direct, acquire, figure out cheap cardboard box supply, and start a business. Many Depron importers did just that. Seeing how readi-board is much cheaper than Deporn....... Guess you could sell tons if the paper was not on it.

FedEx business accounts cost less to ship than the USPS. Got to think big though, like quit your day job kind of thing. 2 truck loads, or more.....

A larger sheet, just under 1/4" like FFF, no paper, probably would fetch $2.00 shipped to one's door. Colors might fetch a little more

Am I to take it nothing ever came of this? I'm in the UK and would gladly pay 20 for 10 sheets postage included.

I don't know how much 20 is in USA dollars? It would be about $15.00 US to buy, tax, and box it up though.

If you can get depron, I think it is much better to work with and other properties are better too. Depron is hard to get here, and expensive, but I'd pick that over DT foam any day.

It pretty much came down to most guys being able to get it for US$1 at the Dollar Tree or not willing to pay more than $1.20 to have it shipped. It's really not economically feasible to broker a bunch of small shipped orders. I was pretty disappointed but I guess that's just how it is.

I am definitely looking for equivalents in EU, Australia, and otherwise but it's more difficult to find than you might think.
