Or is something else killing your batteries? Note that brushless motors typically produce greater thrust at the cost of higher discharge currents which stresses LiPo's even more, of course. |

I bought this plane yesterday, usually I fly the Blade 450 3D, and Flyzone FW190, and this little plane flew well. Untill I got back after training. I were gonna show the plane for my mother, and when i powered it up, the rudderservo was all broke. The servo, it just wanted the plane to go right and it started to smell burned rubber. And the prices for a new receiverset is just to high. I bought this plane on a small sale. And in my country the receiverset costs about the same as the plane did this time. And second of all. If I buy a new receiverset, how am I suppost to be able to take it out of the body? Anyways this plane FLEW well (for a time)

E-Flite Ultra Micro Radian
Wow ! Looks like E-Flite has finally caught up with the old Nine Eagles SKY 500 powered glider
The new E-Flite Ultra Micro Radian looks very good to me A bit like the old Nine Eagles SKY 500 powered glider but a (few years to late) Sorry no cigar E-Flite (it already been done) by some of the micro RTF guys who think out of the box |

When I saw the eFlite video yesterday I was trying to decide what it looked like. I originally thought the HK Mini Swift, but this is pretty much the same plane. Last I saw on HK, the Sky 500 was around $50USD RTF - much less than I'm guessing that little Radian to be.

I've still got my Sky 500 - it's the only micro I own. I take it to the field every time I go just in case a kid comes out with one of the guys to watch - I'll take a few minutes and show how it's done (which is usually pretty easy, since they all have XBox controllers with joysticks!). It's been crashed a million times and it has never been touched by glue.

Sorry to dig up such an old thread, but I picked up a Sky 500 recently to learn how to fly.
1st flight - far to windy, couldn't keep her in the air for more than a minute 2nd fight - dead calm and she fly brilliantly. I still managed to put her in a big patch of nettles, and I was wearing shorts and flip flops :0 3rd flight - a bit of wind, but manageable. Overall I'm really pleased. Being so light and with the wing that pops off easily she is very crash resistant, which is ideal for a beginner. There is no flight stabilisation like quite a few planes seem to have now, but I guess that will make me a better pilot in the long run |

Welcome to RC Groups! ...and welcome to what will hopefully be a lifelong hobby of flying R/C airplanes.
Most of all, congratulations on teaching yourself to fly!!! Where were you lucky enough to find a Sky 500? Of all the planes I've sold, the Sky 500 is the one I miss the most. I'd love to find another. You're absolutely right that learning without flight stabilization will make you a better pilot. If you have any problems, or if you need any help, or if you just want to chat about R/C, you'll find a whole family of R/C nuts here on the forum. Rick |

Thank you Rick, I've no doubt I will have a bunch of questions in the future.
I found the Sky 500 for sale locally on the book of face for £20 and it included 4 batteries! I found a proper nine eagle wall charger on eBay for £8 which can charge at 600mah so it only takes an hour to charge all four batteries Of course I'm already looking for a second plane |

Welcome. I had to look up the Sky 500, I am familiar with the small Solo Pro helicopters, which put me back into the RC hobby years ago, but only more recently started to fly rc planes. I watched a few videos, and seems like it's a nice slow relaxing motorglider. Hope you have many good flights with it, and maybe you can find someone to record your flights, so we can enjoy your plane too?

Thank you for the heads up.
I've got a few of these on order https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230948567720 They say you can charge at 5c! I was a little sceptical. I use lipos in my RC car and always charge at 1c. Will probably keep it to 300mah or below as you suggest, better to spend an extra 30mins charging than a fire. I do always charge on a fire proof tile well away from any fire hazard. Had another lovely evening flight as the sun was going down. Managed a few loops! |

Well, if they're made for 5C charging, then your charger should be fine at 4C. Sorry, it's been a while since I had any Nine Eagles planes or helis, so I didn't know the batteries were safe to fast charge.
Sunrise and sunset are the best times to fly. Glad you're enjoying the plane. ..but if you ever tire of it, let me know. Rick |

I'd stick to 1 or 2C at most, only real high quality batteries can charge at 5C and not have reduced life expectancy.
