Sportster..

A DLE 30 or a Syssa 30 would be a good combo for the Sportster. Brian

Trees are our enemy
The DLE-30 is well loved. I have never owned one, however I have only heard good things..

Will the DLe30 be enough for the sportster?

If it were me, I'd put a G-38 in it.

G38

I had a Sportster with a G38. It was indeed a great combo. Care free, great power, and I did enjoy it greatly. Wish I had kept it more than once. I have a Syssa 30 on hand and thought it would fly it nice as well. Brian

I was looking at the specs for the G-38 at almost 2lbs heavier and it spins the same size prop actually the dle will turn a 20" prop..one thing that i did notice the dle max rev is a 1000 rpm less than the zenoah.. hummm?

weight

Some times the weight of the motor is the deciding factor. A lot of warbirds use/need heavier motors like the G38s to balance properly.. Some models do not.. Brian

I have had a G 38 and now own a DLE 30. And the DLE 30 wins hands down.

Unless the Giant Sportster is different than the smaller versions, it will need the nose weight.

I'd go to the ARF section, at "The Other Place", and see what they are using.

When I was thinking about getting a Giant Sportster, I followed that thread. There is some good info in it, and is worth reading.

I believe that GP says to use a Fugi 34. It's no lightweight.

Yeah if you gotta add alot of weight then I'd go with the G38 with a mag and spring starter and maybe smoke. Good luck

I have one that flies great with a RYOBI 30cc w/CDI (converted weed wacker motor).

I got a few some time ago from JAG and they perform very reliably the parts are also very cheap.

Good thing about it is that it is rear induction/rear exhaust so they fit well in slender cowls. I have a second one in a ¼ scale RYAN STA and another in a similarly sized Tiger Moth, both have very narrow cowls.

The engines have performed with complete reliability.

If you a looking for 3D performance then this is not the one however if scale aerobatics are to your flying style then have a look at these humble beauties.

i have a giant super sporster with the g38 ! I plan to replace the g38 with the dle 30 .The g38 is so heavy that I have 500 g in the tail to balance it!!!
And I really think that the dle 30 is more powerfull.
