The Telink 3DBuster is finally here! The 3D Buster is designed and manufactured by Telink of Czech Republic Europe. The Buster is yet another result of Ido Segev and Telink's amazing hard work and talent to achieve yet another 3d EPP monster! I was surprised when i opened the box, it looks beautiful! and it looks like its going to be a true 3D Monster

Thanks to Brad of Twisted Hobbys, for letting me do this one, i will be doing a full build thread with pictures and flight videos!, i will start the build tonight after work. If you are interested in the updates please subscribe, i will try to keep all the updates on the first post to keep it organized and easy to browse! Hope you guys all enjoy it! Ok guys, first build update posted, will continue the build tomorrow!

So far i can say the most important is to be careful, and not mess up the ailerons like i did by mistake, and didnt cut the top wing ailerons right... not a big worry anyway, you can see the pics on the top to see what i'm talking about, anyway i think it ended up looking pretty cool too with the different top wing aileron shape.

Looking good Dan, I used to always install the cf rods in the wings and fuse on my EPP planes with ca and it worked pretty good. But on the Big ExtraSlick I tried it with welders and I must say I like it better. I have dorked it in pretty hard [enough to break the motor mount] and none of the rods popped out of the fuse. I think if I had used ca that they probably would have popped loose like I have seen happen to some others. It probably added more weight to do it this way but that dosn't seem to bother the plane so what the heck, I prefer the added toughness than to be slightly lighter. Besides I don't think it would be that much extra weight. But then I'm a big fan of Welders, I have built many EPP planes in the last few years and tried just about every adhesive you can imagine, and IMHO you just can't beat Welders. I even use it to seal gaps on things like hor stabs on some of my balsa's by laying a small fillet of Welders in.

Thanks for the tip! i agree completely with you about welders! i think both glues work just perfect, but definately as you say, Welders wins the award for durability by giving a bit of flex. With this plane i'm looking to make it as rigid as possible, thats the reason i went with CA. Also to speed up the build process! But anyway, you can use any glue that you have good experience with, and it will be perfect! it is a fun build for sure!

Thanks Chris!, ok great news guys! i finished the build today (will post the remaining pics later), and was able to get a few flights on it today! and got a bit of it on video too! it was very dark so i dont know how the footage came out, but anyway the airplane flys awesome!!! completely different than anything i have flown! it is very FUN to fly

roll rate is awesome, rudder authority is agressive! it makes awesome snaps to hover and blenders!!! i love it

lol, thanks guys!! i have a bit of footage, but i think i will fly it and tune it a bit more before doing the video!, so far, i need to get a tiny bit more down elevator throw, and play a bit more with dual rates and expo! but man it flys beautiful, really tracks amazing, slow rolling circles are amazing! also point rolls and slow rolls are just WOW!

So not only it is capable of crazy 3D, it can also fly amazing precision! Great job Ido!!!

Views: 250 Most important is to measure the distance the instructions say for the LG mount dimensions Views: 266 Mark it Views: 259 Now cut it with a sharp blade Views: 238 Insert the fiberglass landing gear mount Views: 263 now glue the bottom plywood landing gear mount Views: 262 For this one i used CA, you can use Welders too if you preffer. Views: 249 I started the cut here after it was glued. Views: 250 Now installed the landing gear. please note that at this point, i had not glued the fiberglass mount yet Views: 250 The reason is because i preferred to check first that it fit where it was supossed to go Views: 245 Ok after moving a little bit, it fit exactly where i want it, so now at this point i glued it. Views: 259 Now its time to make a slot on the elevator to install the CF rod, measure 5mm from the start of the hinge line Views: 236 use a straight ruler and sharp blade and cut the opening for the CF slot Views: 264 cut the excess rod Views: 231 Glue the CF rod with your favorite glue. Views: 227 Now install the wood joiner for the elevator Views: 240 Glue with your favorite glue Views: 248 Now its time to install the hinges for the elevator, i used the method the manual recommended of installing the hinges on the outside of the hinge line like this Views: 248 Very easy to do, just takes a bit of patience. Views: 249 After doing this one, i thought that on the rudder i would use a slightly different method, and try to install the hinges in, just like the wings. You will see later in the rudder step that one. Views: 221 Finished elevator with all hinges glued. Views: 259 Ok now its time to mark the position of the elevator horn, you will need to cut through the wood joiner Views: 236 Mark as the instructions say, 9mm from the start of the elevator, and 4mm for the first horn hole and hinge line. Views: 252 Sharp blade, and a bit of patience :) Views: 262 Trial fit, still had to cut a bit more to get it to fit on the wooden joiner. Views: 232 Ok now it fit perfectly! At this point i glued it. As you will see, the elevator horn goes a bit more aft than usual, i guess this is so it doesnt limit the down elevator travel. Views: 247 I opened up a small groove in the elevator to let it travel as much as possible. Views: 253 Ok now its time to do the rudder hinges, as you see, in this one i used the same method as the wings, i like this method a lot better, as it is easier to do, and i think stronger than the method used in the elevator. Views: 226 Once the hinges are installed, now glue with CA. Views: 228 Top rudder hinge. Views: 231 Now its time to mark where the rudder horn goes. Views: 221 Note that it goes on the oposite side of the hinge gap (this is per the instructions). After you have it ready, glue it with CA or your favorite glue. Views: 245 Ok now we are ready to install the horizontal stab, trial fit it, make sure that it is center and square, and glue it. Views: 236 Now trial fit the vertical stab and make sure it is nice and straight Views: 228 Now go ahead and glue it Views: 230 Apply a good amount of glue to the tail Views: 213 Go over everywhere, and if you find any gaps make sure to apply plenty of glue to seal them. Views: 232 Ok we now have the tail fully glued, lets leave it resting for a while so the glue dries completely. Views: 243 Ok now its time to install the tail skid Views: 238 I took one of the excess CF rods that i cut before from the wing, and used it as the tail skid, this one is very easy to do, just cut it and put it at an angle that the tail will not touch the ground, then just glue it. Views: 250 Time to install the elevator servo Views: 228 Test fit Views: 239 Now for the servos i used Welders Views: 242 Time for the rudder servo Views: 230 Time to make the slot for the servo extensions Views: 225 Starting to put the extensions in Views: 231 Extensions fully in! Views: 237 Ok its time to do now the wing struts, as you can see here is the only place we use the flat CF Views: 271 Cut a lot in the strus to fit the flat CF rod that goes in this one Views: 234 The struts is the only place where you will use flat CF. Views: 237 measure from the wingtip the distance that the struts need to go in, the instructions say 140mm from the wingtip Views: 237 Mark it so you can see it clearly Views: 263 Now test fit the struts Views: 249 Note that the rounded part of the struts goes to the back. Views: 270 Glued with CA. Views: 231 now its time to glue the bottom wing Views: 268 Mark it where its center and easy for you to see. Views: 252 Apply plenty of glue to the wing, and hold it for a bit until it is completely dry. Views: 263 Now its time to install the top cabane strut, as you see this was already marked by the factory where they need to go Views: 272 Trial fit it making sure it is straight and glue. Views: 254 Now mark where the CF rod for the bracing will go, the instructions recommend 30mm measured from the backside of the strut. Views: 276 This is where it goes Views: 259 First rod, i "drilled" the hole with the rod just by pushing it in Views: 255 second CF brace that goes from the wing strut to the bottom wing Views: 265 both sides done, and glued Views: 357 Ok now its time to glue the top wing, measure all you can to make sure it is straight, and then glue it with your favorite glue. This was the end of my 2nd build session. At this point the airframe is ready for electronics. Views: 256 Ok now its time to install the aileron servos, you will need to cut a bit the slot to fit the servo arm, and servo tabs. Views: 241 Grab the longest servo arm that the servos bring, and cut the short part and only leave the long part. Views: 234 Here are the 4 servo arms ready for drilling Views: 235 Ok you will need to drill the hole for the ez-connector with a 1.5mm or similar size drill bit, be careful to not drill it too big. Views: 242 Now install the EZ-connectors and make sure they are moving freely, the important is to not tighten the nut too much, this time what i did was apply welders to the nut, this way it won't come off. Views: 269 Here is the aileron servo installed with the servo arm centered and ez connector installed. Views: 242 Here if you like, you will have to cut a slot to hide the aileron wire Views: 266 Now its time to install the aileron horn for both bottom wings half, as you can see this is an easy one, it is important that before you glue the servo, you are completley sure it is centered, so make sure to plug it in your receiver and test it before gl Views: 269 this is the elevator servo arm installed with the pushrod, with this geometry i get a lot of elevator throw! After this one do the rudder and thats the end of all the servos and pushrods installation. Views: 314 Next is the motor installation, it is very easy to do, note that the kit and motor do not bring the wood screws you will need to install the motor into the airplane, anyway its not a big deal, you just need 4 wood screws for this, and you can easily insta Views: 259 Now its time to glue the wheels to the landing gear! be careful with the glue to make sure they keep spinning freely. Views: 253 Wheel pants installation, this one is very easy, you will have to cut a lot on the wheel pants so they will fit the landing gear Views: 261 After this align them to where they look good, and you will also have to do a small hole for the landing gear axle to fit, then after this glue the center part of the wheel pants Views: 272 Ok now we are going to do the aileron pushrods that connect the aileron bottom wing with the top wings, you will have to cut the pushrods to the correct lenght, which they say is 205mm as you can see Telink suggests using two long CF push rods (with the 4 Views: 287 Then you will have to put both pieces together, NO glue on this ones, just use the provided heatshrink, cut to size and apply heat, and you will have both CF parts together for the ailerons. Remember its two pushrods, one for each wing half. Views: 262 To cut where the CF pushrod needs to go, just cut behind where your aileron horn is. Views: 309 now just glue it to the aileron, and mark where the top one goes, after this glue them Views: 323 Now you have both ailerons working together.... very easy and works nicely! Views: 273 Ok now its time to cut the battery area slot, this is where you will insert the battery. Views: 450 Here is the cut done and the battery installed, as you can see with a 2200 11.1V pack, in this position the CG is at the farthest AFT of the range, so definately take into consideration this before cutting it.
