Radian Glider with tricycle landing gear

Greetings All,

There are lots of pilots flying Radians. Attached is a photo that might interest some of you. It's a picture of my Radian (original variant) setup with tricycle landing gear, making a final approach. Photo taken today by pilot B. King.

The small black box atop the canopy is an LED Blackburn bicycle light. When in strobe mode, it can be seen flashing at long distances even on the sunniest of days.

Video of this plane landing and taking off can be see on Youtube by typing in the title of this posting. Or by searching for Youtube postings by flyingwingmanscw2.

Do they act more like spoilers or flaps?

There's one in every crowd

Now, if they were retracts, you might have something

If you're not concerned with thermal performance, then why not!

Do you have any specs on the Great planes part of it? THey have a lot of different types and sizes of landing gear.

It demonstrates how the Radian can be used as a trainer.

Well all those are good answers but I would like to hear from the original poster as to why.

Do not get me wrong every answer we learn something

Oh almost forgot to ask. Is the nose wheel steerable? If so that may save some walking.

But I will bet its a little tricky to land since they seem to float a tad on ground effect.

I am interested in setting up a radian with landing gear. Can you provide details, with pictures if possible, of your set up. Especially the nose gear.

looked up landing gear on radian, this thread popped up.

I am impressed! The reason I am interested is that this mod opens up the bottom of the plane for AP gear or fpv gear. I always wanted to put a Hd cam on the bottom of the plane instead of the top. When its top heavy it always wants to "waddle-roll" with all of my gear on it (hard to explain, but easily adjustable with some trim). I am thinking of I put the weight below the wings it wouldn't want to roll as easy and i know this as a fact.

Where'd you order the parts at!!! i would love to see how you did this!
it looks like it doesnt create hardly any drag to be honest. I fly with a whole bunch of gear and it still flies great and glides smoooth even with a 3000pack and a 1300pack for my video (in regards to the remarks above). this thing can handle a ton of weight and still fly smooth, even with the drag of a gopro. So let me know the parts and how you did it. See i would love a pan and tilt on the bottom to see below and in front like an fpv heli mounts. When its on the top I cant really pan down cause the fuselage is in the way. well hope you reply, its kinda an old thread, or if anyone else has put big*/tall* landing gear on a radian, let me know. thanks, also nice vids on your youtube channel deserthawk
