I worked on glassing the canopy, and found out my epoxy went bad, looks like it froze over the winter and thawed out. It looks like it has little pieces of gel balls in it. Anyhow now I have a bunch of sanding to do on the canopy to make them all to go away. I threw out the epoxy and have to stop by the hobby shop to pick up some more.

I also cut out the notches in the rails so that the motor mount would fit in the hull. I made up a mock battery tray mount and sent it off to get laser cut.

The circles are going to be where lightening holes will possibly be.

I could be wrong but would almost bet these would be cheaper than the laser cutting unless it's being done for free by a friend. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80175

Nice catch bill, I'll talk to the guy that does the laser cutting for me to see what he is going to charge.

Battery Tray Cutouts

The guy sent back the drawings for the battery tray laser cutouts. They are going to be made out of 3/16" plywood, and cost $10.00 shipped for the 2 of them.

I got the battery trays the other day, they look great. I'm in the process of closing on our first house and packing everything up to move this friday. It will be a while before I progress on the boat.

It has been a while since my last update, closed on the house. My honey doo list is a mile long, so no work on the boat but have been buying the remaining pieces. The leopard 4082/1600kv motor came in. The water jacket came in. The turnigy 180amp speed controller is in at the hobbyshop and I will be picking that up this weekend.

I have read a couple of times about people doing work to that speed controller. What are you all doing to them and is it easy to do?

Thanks
Charlie

The most common thing we were doing is adding a cap bank. The newer versions have one already attached though.

It probably already has the cap bank added then. Should be a small black heat shrinked item hanging from a couple of smaller gauge wires.

finally got the boat back on the building table. Last weekend drilled and mounted most of the outer hardware and then fiberglass the top of the boat. More pics to come.

Fiberglassing

Here are the lastest pictures of the boat. I have fiberglassed the top of the boat with one layer of thin fiberglass. The bottom has one layer of fiberglass on it as well. The sides over lap one another at least 50%. The point of the boat has 4 layers of fiberglass on it. The transom has 1 full layer and then the sides wrap around about 25%. I then put 3 extra layers where the transom and the bottom of the boat meet. I also coated the bottom with a layer of epoxy over the fiberglass layer.

Is this enough or should it be covered with another layer of glass completely?

If not the boat is off to my painter friend tomorrow after I sand off the rough edges.
