If I manage to convince my good lady wife that I should have this....then I intend to seriously look at a " What If " RAAF, SWP White tail scheme.

I am a member of Vintage Wings in Gatineau, who have, restore and fly WWII warbirds, including one done in the scheme of the last Canadian Corsair pilot to die in the war, Lt. Robert Hampton Gray. It's a F4U-1, but I can do a 3 blade for photo op. I also intend to get ground recordings of run up when I get the opportunity and put those into a sound system.
Here it is! http://grayghosts.vintagewings.ca/?page_id=53

+ 1 on that choice Rob. For the sake of accuracy ! The Brits will have the same dilemma as they only had 3 bladers two. That's why I wanted Andy Chen to make one.LOL.
Still, if someone could tell me if there's a suitable 3 blade prop and hub for this one the rest shouldn't be to hard. There will be plenty of guys wanting a spare prop and hub for this plane no doubt.

Would be nice if you could use the LX big B25 prop for example.

The LX corsair available from the fruitstand is sold with a big 18 inch 3 blade prop. You can buy it as a spare part.

Yup I was going to suggest the LX spare 3-blade. Should be a direct fit.

OK, all this talk about propellers.. so I have made some investigations. That means none of this may be correct but it's a start.
the real corsair has a W/S of 12.49m and a prop 4.04m !
The 1600mm LX prop is 18"
This 1700mm prop is 17" ??
So the LX prop, for this plane, is an improvement if it worked ??
But to be ( oh no ) scale it would want to be 21.65" !!!

I might be wrong and no doubt most think it doesn't matter but that's a HUGE difference.Over 4.5" ..... surely that's not right ?

I think that is correct. I've heard from some of the scale aficionados among us that the FMS props in the 1700 series are a good few inches smaller than "true scale" size. It has to do with the size of the motor needed to swing a 21" prop I believe.

Mercy me a 21" 3 or 4 blade prop on these 1700 birds would look SWEET! ((drool))

Yeah it's true. The props are a lot smaller than scale

People will say it's impossible to put a scale prop on these planes, but it's not. Just get the kit version (if they offer one) and get a motor and esc big enough to handle the scale prop. I just did to my FW-190 and after todays flights I couldn't be happier staring at a huge prop disk

What size motor and ESC did you put in the FW-190 for the bigger prop?

How come it is nearly impossible to find FMS planes in the US. The only distributor in the US I see is Banana Hobby and they are out of stock on more FMS planes than they have in stock. Does FMS just do low volume production? How come there are not more distributors?
There products are supirior to thier competitors. You would think that they would want to expand thier business.

21" props? Wow! The stock motor is 300kv, I can't imagine how low it would need to be to swing that safely!
