I too understand. I love the bigger warbirds but even with my Ford Expedition, they just barely fit with the backseats down. I can only imagine those with smaller cars trying to deal with planes those size. Now that they are focusing on upgrading their 1400 series (look at the upgrades they've made to their V7 P-51), I would expect the same treatment to many of their other 1400 models, such as 3-stage flaps and sliding canopy, stronger wing, etc on the Corsair and so-on.

I was really hoping they would expand their 1700 line but that doesn't look like that will happen. Not at least for the next year or two.

..lament for the '1700s'...

Those of us participating in the 1700mm P-40N thread have run into the same situation regarding slower than hoped for sales affecting the production and support of these sized planes.

Scott (phoenix racing) brought it to our attention late last year that H-K had drawn away from supporting these or promoting further additions to the line due to lowering sales projections. I was skeptical of their assessment and reasoning but it must be somewhat due to the overall economic conditions.

FMS has been very forthcoming keeping the information flowing, even if it isn't just what we'd like to hear at times. H-K fell almost totally away from that which perplexed those of us preparing the airplanes and dealing with flawed parts and mechanisms.

The metal retract option getting mentioned here is a large draw for my attention. With it being an upgrade rather than the original fit, maybe they'll become available in the near future for these large planes. Here's hoping...

I personally feel FMS did a great job of producing a very large plane that with it's DIN plug electrical wing connections and two piece wings it travels quite nicely in my Nissan Altima. I have the 1700mm P-47 and 'am enjoying it very much.

Ive got the 1700 P-51 and am very happy as well! Bigger planes fly better. I have three FMS 1400 warbirds and although I thought they were awesome, they are now for sale because to me the 1700 is superior...

I agree MYC...It's too bad most people are too scared off to even attempt a 1700.

That's one of the reasons I sold my old make room for the newer ones I know are coming out.

Another reason to trade in that old suv, van, or car and get a extended/club cab truck and trailer . Im sure it's easier to explain a new truck than more planes to the wife. If I get that B25 from lx I'll be needing a trailer.

Aros, are you still getting your 1700 F4U that they posted or is that delayed too?

It's been delayed...I have no word how delayed now. They are producing/focusing on their 1400 line since those are what's selling. I was told my contact would keep on the production manager about finishing the Corsair and he promised me he would still be sending it out to me.

I just don't know when. A week, a month, a few months? No idea. Bummer.

And the Corsair group gives a collective groan....
I was really looking forward to a Corsair that could have the tail and wings come off for shipping/transporting (The BH version's tail feathers are epoxied on from what can see making shipping after construction impractical).
So we wait...
