'My' Guanli Icon A5 FINALLY flies....
.....but it took a new wing and a few other mods to make it happen.
Like others, it's been a to get this thing to fly without it going into a death spiral at anything less than full throttle.
This is actually the second wing I've fabricated for the A5. The first wing was semi-symmetrical, but it had the overall shape of the A5. It, too, suffered tip stall and 'dying duck' syndrome.
The wing that is on it now is better. Nothing special - curved top & flat bottom. Unfortunately, it has a little anhedral instead of dihedral which probably makes it a little more unstable. I did add a smidgeon of washout by bending and rolling the tips a little. That seems to have helped.
It takes off fine, but you can't yank and bank this thing. It also has a weird Corsair-like waggle. Haven't figured that one out yet. You have to land under power or else it will still tip stall, but it actually lands now.
