hi Allr,
good to see you here, I am sure one of the other guys can help you. Hans, (username-heavydate) is building one from Don Smith plans but I am not sure what scale, about 9th scale I think. Bob Holman I think did a 125" G model but I will try to find out a little more.
good Luck

allr,

The Don Smith plans are 1/9th scale. The Holman is 1/10th scale.

To make a C model from G plans will take a good bit of work. You will be able to use the wings right from the plan as they are the same, but you will have to scratch build the fuse. and tail section.

It could be done, all it will take is some work and designing on your part.

I think I have almost everything you can think of in the way of B-17 research, so if I can be of any help, please let me know.
Take care and good luck! I would love to see a C model done!

Paul,
No problem. I will always help out anyone with scale warbirds! That is what makes the hobby so much fun, the people you meet and share info with.

There will always be someone that has found a better way of doing something.

One of these days I am going to build a B17, its one of my favorite bombers. Also wondering what is a good size for this plane. I would like it at 100" version, is there any plans at this size?

Thanks,

Vic

My favorite multi engine warbird is still the ME-110.
One day I hopefully will be the proud owner of one.

Vic,
I think I have seen a 100" version over at R/C Warbirds on the bomber page. I can't remember the designer. A 100" would run well on 52 size 4 strokes I think. Maybe 70s would be better.

Most of the plans I have seen run in the 125" range. Westcraft had a kit at 123" and American Eagle has a kit in 125" The westcraft was a nice model, but the AE shape is all wrong and the nacelles are way too far forward.

You may find a Westcraft for sale sometime. The do come around every once in awhile.

My big thing Is I am going for a ride in 909 this Sat! Wife gave it to me for my Birthday. Always wanted to fly in a B-17!!

Hi Ulf...my dad has got a combined clock/compass he 'liberated' during his stint on crash guard on a ME 110. Two Spits had shot it down over the Isle of Wight during the Battle of Britain. Clock still works too. The gunner crash landed it as the pilot had had his head blow off! (my dad had to scape the brains off the clock to unscrew it..yuk). He got a weeks 'jankers' for 'stealing from an enemy aircraft', but considered it a fair penalty to pay during the time he served with the Black Watch.

Jankers is what US would call KP.
Basically disciplinary duties, potato peeling, sweeping, such as that.
Good Luck
