Space Shuttle / 747 separation

Hello, We are JRCAIRCRAFT. We build, modify and fly custom electric aircraft. We belong to The ValleyFlyers and fly at Apollo field in Los Angeles,CA.

We have begun testing of our new custom Space Shuttle that is attached to our NASA 747. The Shuttle is a glider with servoless retracts, airbrake and a drag chute. We will be executing the separation within a week or so. Hopefully we will be able to do a wide final approach, extend the landing gear just before touchdown, hit the air brake which also ejects a spring loaded drag chute. We are filming this from the air in our 777 AWACS with a 360 degree spinning dome with up and down camera tilt using the new 1080p GoPro HD video camera. We will be posting links, videos and photos here for anyone interested.

Here is a quick video of our first flight test of the Shuttle mounted on the 747

You need to add the tail cone to the shuttle for when it is on the 747...More scale and i bet it will fly better...

We were originally depicting the Enterprise flight which did not have the cone but ended up with with the white 747 instead of the metallic. Will probably add the cone eventually. It flys good now though. But wouldn't that look kinda funny when the space shuttle is landing?

That's pretty cool. Any thoughts on doing the ET/SRB combo?

Two left thumbs
There's a NASA model that proved the 747 as Shuttle carrier concept at the AMA museum. The NASA video states that they discovered the necessity of the tail cone with their model.

We recommend extending the landing gear before touchdown over here on the East Coast, but you West Coast guys always have style.

Looks like a great time. Looking forward to successful video.
