F5B National Title is on the line, plus the US Team Selection and our new class, The Hotliner Championship.

I'll start a thread for post and pics and videos of the weekend, so hopefully some of the fun can be sent out across the net for all to share.

See you soon!

Seems like a good starter...

Now this guy? He worries me...

I saw him recently "warming up", with a Multiplex FOAM Hotliner....flew the course inverted, then did slow rolls to a 30 point landing.

I want him to teach me How to REALLY fly!

I've witnessed him flying 5 times, watched each one carefully. 30 fricken points every time. I hate him..

This guy is serious trouble. He's one of the most organized and prepared competitors around. He needs 11.37 hrs to make the drive, and plans 23 hrs, just to be sure.

When I show up on Saturday at 9:45 am, he will be all set up, batts warmed, and studying the local air, predicting thermals. His wife will be pretending to be engrossed in a novel, but she too is spying the air.

I really hope that I fly right after him, so I can see where the good air is!

As for the other "losers", namely Jeff and Steve, yes, L O S E R S... They are too busy this week relishing in their 10s bliss and practice results from last weekend.

Steve was doing his normal 45-47, 48 on tap if the air is good and he's willing to push past 1500 Wat mins. Hate that guy!

And Jeff? He was defying physics with his B8/8.5/9/9.5 or whatever it was. He did a double cut at B, last leg, went back for it twice, and still came out of the course at a higher speed than I do with no cuts.

Jeez!! With all this fricken talent, why I am even going?

- oh yeah, I know, because it's really fun.. :-)

And just in case you didn't see this already, we have a fun, cool and super neat new class, available to all (AMA members), and very few restrictions.

The club and AMA Contest Director have agreed to change battery restriction for the Hotliner Class. 4S has been dropped from the rules, pilots are able to fly the packs of their choice.

Amended rules folllow:

The standard FAI rules are simplified for the first inaugural F5B Hotliner Championship
- Battery of your choice
- No limiter or logger needed
- No weight restrictions
- F5b style model / hotliner / "run what cha brung and have fun"
- same  scoring rules for Distance, Duration and Landing Tasks
- current AMA  membership

What does this mean? means that these guys are are gonna come loaded for bear, pushing it to the max, and putting on a good show while getting personal bests, and Awards for the top finishers.

Should be really great with the new blood, enthusiasm of first time racers taking a shot at the course, plus the wild "excursions" I fully anticipate, while the nerves settle down and the complicated tasks of this crazy type of racing becomes more familiar.

Should be interesting.

PS for those of you that know Chuck (long standing Team USA Manager), he's planning to be supporting the event, but more in a "behind the scenes" type of way this year.

He's been very busy and distracted with more important things than toy airplanes, unfortunately.

We are all hoping to see more of him later.

Good news is that it is likely temporary, and we'll be seeing more of him sometime soon.

Wow! It's Friday already. Tonight is model check in for the FAI class.

Checked the weather and all is good for the weekend!

After careful testing of packs, the Neu's are performing better then the TP 45 and 65c. So I'm headed out with red packs for the weekend.

17S Battery arrived. I think I'll go for 52 laps.
I might even do a few of them inverted just for fun.
See you in the AM.
