I'd go with a Brushed motored HSP or something like that, for example
http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/xstr-elect...rol-buggy.html

I expect that a Brushless one would be too fast for a little one of that age. But of course you know him, & so here is a Brushless one for example; http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/bullet-ele...-rc-buggy.html (Just might need Dad's supervision more)

hope this helps

I got my boy a Nikko Alien Panic 1 as his first, which was ideal as it doesn't run too quick and is small enough to run about in the house;

The Tx is proper sticks rather than buttons, which is nice.

Not sure where you can get it in the US, but I would guess any toy store, I got mine from a basic high street toy store, so I assume the same is true in the US, given that its Nikko and therefore widely distributed.

Not any more. Nikko RC products are no longer available in US retail stores. Not sure why but maybe too much competition from New Bright and some other brands. Too bad cause it's the end of an era, many of us grew up on Nikko RC.

Thats a shame. I'm in the UK, but my first RC car was a Nikko Turbo Panther, which was black, and had knobbly front tyres unlike some of the TP's one sees around. Did sterling service for many years until I drove it into a pond. Tough as old boots, and reasonably fast for a RTR "toy".

I want another one...
