I'll post more pics and get in depth with more of the required build materials and what may and may not work, I need some time though. I did have another more builder friendly and more performance bird to be built and designed in the near future, Although you guys seem to be obsessed with this one which has marginal Yaw performance, so I guess i'm stuck with helping you guys with this one

Is yaw in the hover the issue? If it is only controlled through differential speed of the motors, it might be more convenient to set up two of the motors so that they have a tilt servo each and
use differential tilt for yaw. It means at least one more channel, though.

Would a kk board work for this or do you need the multiwii type?

MultiWii code is generally a lot easier to read than KK assymbly code depending on who wrote the code.

I don't use any bit shifting in my MultiWii code and keep the programming short cuts to a minimum making it much easier for me and others to read.
If you have someone that can do KK programming or MultiWii bit shifting for you then it doesn't matter which board you use.

Well I am back from the Beach Trip/Outing.
At least we got to fly some Stunt kites , 2 & 4 liners. :-)

I have to rework my Cutting Filers to include the Motor Pivot/Spar holes
as well as the issue about lowering the Canard wing to the level of the inner tray.
Neither of which is a Biggy !

If the RC Flying weather conditions do not SMILE on me I may be a in a position to cut
the 1st set of parts yet this weekend.

That said ...
F&T, how different is your NEW Performance design going to be from the V44?
Is there any way I can help with the parts that you will need for IT ?
Shoot me a dimensioned paper drawing and I can Square up things in CAD and
work on the updates and changes if necessary.

I assume that you'd RATHER have NEW design parts cut versus OLD design parts. Right?

As far as the OLD V44 design I will be attempting to use a MultiWii board
Because there has been a LOT of previous thought, work and assistance from
thread participants.

Finally IF the Quad board did NOT care about what the FF surfaces were doing in Hover mode
and IF the motors just were just Motors IN FF mode, regardless of the Quard boards' thoughts
THEN things would be a simple Tilt and Go situation.

However, that appears to NOT be the case so the MultiWill coders have the advantage
not to mention the expertise.

Yah, it turns out to be a little more difficult than expected.

On my quad I ended up doing all the control switching and adjusting based off of a combination of switch positions, servo tilt angle, timers and throttle level to adjust the dual rates, motor commands, airplane control surfaces and gyro influences automatically so that my bird takes minimal pilot effort when transitioning.

It all depends on how good of a pilot you are and how smooth you want the transition to be. F&T is a much better pilot than I am so he didn't need nearly as much automation as I did on mine.

Back at it again !
I've added the Fuse side thru holes for the Pivoting CF rods,
lowered the Front Canard wing to the Inner deck level,
Changed the Rudder height and profile slightly,
and exported the whole mess to CNC cutting files.

Here are all the parts 1:1 scale layed out on 2" x 4' x 6mm MPF foam sheeting.

I can do the cutting for you or you can Tile Print the whole mess with Adobe X
cut out and tape together all the pieces of paper and then cut the foam from those templates.

Regardless, here is the Pdf for your viewing pleasure.

Interested ... but F&T said something about an update more builder friendly and more performance bird to be built and designed in the near future,, so I think I will hold out for the future version ,,, since I don't have the time to work on this one right now ...

Thanks for the plans to look at though Bob those are artistic enough to enjoy without building the bird

Those are some nice comps :-)

YA mean after that HK vid indoors you really can hold yourself back ? REALLY ?

It looked pretty impressive to me.

And HOPEFULLY I / WE can get in on F&T's new design early so we can ALL get in on the FUN !

Artistic ? really ?

It's just efficient use of materials IMHO.

I hate wasting even cheap foam !

Well, I have made the 1st TEST cuttings !
Looking fairly good except for a couple of inadvertent CW cuts vs CCW's, minor stuff.
I also realized that I have NOT included Gluing strips nor the nose and cockpit
interior doublers and gluing surfaces that are in the Twins parts sets.
There is plenty of unused spaces that these can be fit into.

Anyway I've uploaded the parts sheets & stacks for your viewing pleasure.

Now for the all important Part Fit and assembly check.

Yep ... I work at an all girls liberal arts college and get a chance to see what some call art ... and your best use of materials ... and knowledge and use of cad is better than most of what I see .

And yes when you have 3 kids out of 6 still in college and moving because of the spouse's job and just recovering from a heart attack ,, time is a premium and not to be wasted on building or even hardly flying .... Some day soon I hope to be back at this hobby in full force )
