Hey Ron,

I only waited 40 min or so between the black and the white on the bottom. It was still tacky when the second coat was applied. I used a lot of paint, don't know if that makes a difference. The thermal builders out there would have been horrified.

Bummer Tim, but don't let this stop you, I'm certainly not the first person to do it, would love to see a checked WH60.

Thanks for the reply,it seems like at times if it is still a little tacky it
flows together better.
What aspect ratio is your wing?

Elevator Hinge

Some pics of the elevator hinge and a size comparison next to a Needle DSL stabiliser.

The hinge turned out well but it took a very long time. Should be better prepared for the next one, definitely need to cut the time it took to do that job. The hinge is nice and loose too, and moves 90 degrees without any effort.

Making the wiper is going to be very interesting, there is 2mm or maybe slightly less between the skins at the tips of the elevators. I guess if you can have a wiper on a D40 stabiliser then this couldn't be any worse.

Looks really nice Sean ,with a bit more practice scoring the hinge will speed up.
Needle stab looks a bit boring next to the Deepend one
Good luck with the wipers.

Keep going ,Shane S

Great looking stab Sean. Perhaps doing the wiper in stages may help with better control of the bog.

Watching and learning. I understand your comment on feelings of pride. Wait til it takes flight for the first time ... it's an awsum feeling.

Sean you certainly are a perfectionist. That is the best looking hingecut. Talk about an A grade part!
