Got the kit today.
Double boxed and well packed. First impressions are very good. Some nice design features. The body is real short !! Some strakes on the wing, flaps, and central wheel. Came with a lot of hardware and even prop hub and blades. Wing has full length decent size carbon fibre spars and joiner is a sleeve over system. Looks real strong.
Its EPO but not too brittle ( some of the foam pattern visible in places.)
I reckon mine is an ex demo model, its obviously been "dry" fitted together and then repacked. Some minor rubs and flaws but I will live with it.
Instructions are for a ARF but at least COG is there and also 5% up airleron trim recommended.. Cant pick up manufacturer, its a no brand sheet.
Initial thoughts were to fit a 35/42 Turnigy but quick weigh up has me thinking something lighter. Instructions list a 36/ 05 ? outrunner . Have a E flite 480 that may be the go and will match up to 11 x 7 blades supplied.
I will do the AUW and make my mind up then.

Got some time last night to start putting it together.
AUW with proposed Park 480 motor and 2200 3 cells is 1.4kg, so going with that light set up.
Also with battery in likely looking battery tray back in the cockpit area over the wing spar, first COG check is all good.
All pretty straight forward, the aleron and flaps are set up for top of wing
installation. Not my preference but if using on a slope or landing area is rough
will protect them. Using some mini metal gear coronas. Had to do a lttle foam surgery to get them to fit but nothing untoward.
Need to get my elevon throws equalised and one wing is not sitting fully in but should get sorted and have a maiden on the weekend.

Why was I the guinea pig !!!!!
Fixed the wing insert problem by cutting 56mm off the joinning spar, it was too long.
Had a lull this morning in what has been a pretty windy week and went for a maiden.
Flew out nice and stable but as soon as I put some throttle in to climb out it duck dived staight in. Brought back into the carpark for the air crash investigation committee. Front cowl always looked really fragile and this was
a mess, broken propellor and motor mount out. Couple of internal formers broken and a aleron hinge torn. All repairable but why....
It looked like a classic case of reversed eleators but this was checked out before and after and all going right way. Too sudden for even extreme nose heavy COG but second opinion on COG rules this out as well.
Had a closer look at engine mount...and another look....not much in the way of evidence of glueing , looks like it was a Friday job and they had used up the glue allowance on Thursday. Best assesment is that when I gave it full throttle the torque pulled the engine mount out and down.
Kicking myself that I didnt do the normal CA run around over all the joints that I do with my aerobatic stuff.It had looked like a good well built
ply inner cage before I joined the foam fuselage sides to it.
Summary so far
1. Check length of joinng spar
2. Go over engine mount frame and reinforce and CA joins

Take 2 - Worse
Fixed the front end and time for remaiden. Decision made to hand launch without power
for second test to take thrust line out of play.
Same disastor, pitched straight in, no elevator authority at all.
Apologies to the glue guy it must not have been the engine mount pulling out,
it must be a COG issue. Sheet gives COG at 40mm +2mm from wing edge. This is at front edge of spar and lots of second opinions from other experienced members at our field agrees that it looks OK......
but lots of head scatching... the normal 25 - 30% of wing chord must not apply. Taking COG back to say 65 mm looks like going the wrong way. I am st...ed.
Went to COG calculations on flying wings forum. Helps but calculations are tricky with tailess glider with slight forward swept wing throw
Can anybody help, any ideas..
Wing root is 260mm
Wing tip is 80mm
Forward rake is approx 50mm
Also some discussions on using the "flaps" as the elevators and the alerons without the elevon mixing.
We wont give up ...yet
As far as CG, this calculator has been used for forward swept wings by swapping the root and tip chords.
