Build Log

George Miller F-4 With XPS Dynamax Build

I could really use some help, I picked up this vintage F-4 kit and it is missing the plans. The bugs left most of the manual and the mice didn't eat to much foam wing, so I should be able to build it. It is the OLD kit, purchased new in 1987, so it has the fuselage in several parts. Any plans will help with CG and equipment install and set up. I plan on using a tail pipe off of the Yellow F-4 and converting a Dynamax for an EDF setup.

I will gladly pay for any help anyone can provide.

Luke

go on the classifieds and look for this same Phantom for sale. I believe the screen name is Expresscraft and he's in Florida. I'll bet he has the plans and would make copies of them if you offer him a few bucks for his trouble. worth a shot at least, if noone else can come through for you.

Thanks Rich (LuvEvolution), I'll check it out. I take it you're a fellow free thinker? Or is that a model engine?

I will build it, but I need you to take some digital pictures of the plans so I can at least get some ideas!

Got ya brotha!

Man, this aint looking good for the Miller F-4. I did order the Spring Air retracts from: http://www.retracts.com/Retrax_700.htm the 701's, same ones George used to us for this plane. They take a Robart 3/8" strut, so that takes care of the gear issue!

I tried to contact EJF but the man aint in town for a while and I did not hear back on the email. I need to know what the best combination is for my Dynamax.

I will order the EJF CNC motor mount and 8mm collet

Typhoon 700-98 brushless motor

Castle Creations Phoenix HV-85 Brushless Motor Control

How does this combo sound? Any help would be appreciated!

I got George Miller himself to help me with this project, so I'm going to be building it on the RCU forums.

hv85 is way too small, youll need atleast a 110, 120 or 160 to be safe would be much better. a hv 85 would be ok if you lived on the north pole....or norway

You probably want the 670kv HET motor for 12S. They have a 780kv and 840kv. The 840 would probably work on 10S.

I would electrify the Byron fan, Plane is designed for it and all the duct work and formers set up for that. It is great flying sport jet.
