NOT FOR SALE fun fly plane. Anyone build this

This is my first post here. I have recently moved and just got settled in and restarted the scratch build on the Not For Sale. Just wondering if anyone here has built one. Looks like its going to be good plane. It will be powered by a norvel 40, servos are Trunigy 380max digital that weigh 18g each, carbon fiber landing gear and carbon fiber tail skit (no wheel ) small 500mah 7.4 lipo with small volt reg. The plane is built light. It may not take much abuse but I hope it flies well. here is a pic covering almost done. Top will of fuse will be solid black and botom of fuse will be solid white. Checker board on fuse will run all the way back on the rudder just not finished yet.

I got a little more accomplished. I wish I had been able to cover the top of the fuse in black tonight. I think this will make a huge difference in how it looks. This was my first scratch build and the wildest cover scheme i have tried. I learned a lot and hope to do better on my next project. Here is pic of the progress. The horizontal is epoxied in and waiting to harden. Now just need the time to hinge all the control surfaces.

I scratch built one of these many years ago. On calmer days it flew extremely well with precise control responses and excellent tracking. I had engine problems with my first power plant so I found out that it dead sticked like a 2 meter glider.

But once the wind picked up it was a weather vane (picture that fuselage shape!). So you have to fly much closer to full throttle to overcome that effect.

I built one many yrs ago, before the days of 3D and loved it. Even with a old dog Royal .46 on it, it flew great. Unlimited knife edge flight.

I built half of one... another flyer and I coopereated in putting a NotForSale together as a prize for a fly-in. It's definitely got it's own special kind of beauty: super plane especially for someone who wants something a little bit different.

I love your covering scheme

ya a long time ago. the planes were in MAN.

they were popular fun flies for about 6 months after the article came out, but were eclipsed rather quickly. (Everyone went back to profiles & small square fuses)

i have built 4 of these. The most potent had a 55 o. s. up front. Absolutely unbelievable. Now have a very lightly built one powered with a Turnigy 35 48 1100 kv. Goes very nicely

Good to hear. I thought I would have one built by now but too many other distractions. Looks like a winter project now.

Plane was damaged beyond repair in storage. I have a dle 20 and no plane to put it on. Im really considering building a larger versoion. Havent decided about removale wongs. If I do they will not be like the old 80" version. Im going to a RC event this weekend. I will start the build and post some pics.
