Lower max amps, 28. I would prefer something with higher amp cap. Something a little beefier.

I'm looking at either:

Or

http://innov8tivedesigns.com/Cobra/C...5-10_Specs.htm

Not sure of engine compartment dimensions and max prop size (also what prop gets dangerous for launching)

Engine is external, and you are good stock with a 9 x 6. No danger in launching at all.
Again, look for something in the 1200kv range for 3s, and 1000 range for 4S.
Copy the successful configs on here instead of trying to find a new motor.

Isn't picking a motor part of determining a successful config?
Why so high on the Kv? Won't a larger prop turn slower and use less amps? The recommended motor is 830Kv and 12x6. Assuming the pic is the same, the 9x6 you suggest should be well clear of chomping fingers.

Sure, and if you look around you will see that with 3S, you want about 12-1400kv, for 4S you want less.
12 x 6 won't fit without a lot of mods.
I run the same 1200kv, 9 x 6, and have had level flight with 3 amps.
Can fly an hour with this config.
Larger prop also gives less top speed.

If it's to be, it's up to me.

I don't think we're all talking about the same Skywalker

Subsonic.. Love that compass man! I like the 2-wheel main as well.... Little more drag but better than one center wheel I'm sure.

This compass thing is indeed so good. Can I ask you to post more close-ups of the chassis part? What does it look like from the belly side? To my shame I didn't give it much thinking and just used standard long-legged 2-wheel chassis, but your solution looks so much better and smarter.
Also, is there a wheel on the tail end?
I don't have a wheel there, only (shame on me, yes yes) a strap of tin cut out of a beer can, merely to protect the foam from rubbing against the surface of the runway. Weighs less then 2 g.

I'll post in the 1680 SW thread. This one is for power systems.

Hi Folks,

I am building a 1900 sw and have an Axi 2808/24 gold line motor kicking around.

It says 2 or 3s lipo cells on the blurb, if I run it on 4s, will it burn?!! (a 9x6 pusher prop)

Will it work on the SW anyway?

Thanks!

  • Weight: around 73 oz.
  • Motor: 920 kv Emax BL2820/07 from HURC (http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...ushless/Detail)
  • Prop size: 9x6, 10x5, 10x6, 10x7
  • ESC: Hobbywing Platinum 40A
  • Separate BEC: Castle 10A
  • Servos used: HS-82MG x4 on wings (noisy little buggers); HS-65HB x2 on tail
  • Flight battery: 1 Sky Lipo 4S 4000 mAh
  • Video battery: small 3S
  • Flight cam: RMRC 480
  • VTX: 400 mW Sunsky
  • VTX antena: DIY Cloverleaf
  • RX: Sunsky or Lawmate
  • RX antenna: DIY Virevent or Skew-planar wheel
  • Stabilizer: GWS PG-02 dual-gain, switchable via Tx
  • OSD: Remzibi OSD
  • Max wind: about 25 knots
  • Mods: flaps, motor mount, carbon ribbons in wings/stabilizers, proper hinges and control hardware.

Some prop data for my motor. Admittedly, it's not very helpful since I don't have a tachometer and therefore, have no way of measuring thrust.

9x6:
Max current: 28.55 A @ 16.02 V
Max power: 457.3 W
Min voltage: 15.73 V

10x5:
Max current: 31.21 A @ 16.01 V
Max power: 499.7 W
Min voltage: 15.72 V

10x6:
Max current: 35.03 A @ 15.83 V
Max power: 554.6 W
Min voltage: 15.51 V

10x7:
Max current: 37.74 A @ 16.03 V
Max power: 604.8 W
Min voltage: 15.40 V
