Will be pulling my E-Oculus fuse out in a few min. Going to start a Blog on it soon.

The E-Oculus is out and trimmed. It is 10.05 oz WOW!
I just may have to build a new wing for this one.

I have a Hacker A30-10XL. All the fuse's are sold as soon as they come out of the mold Red or White. I am filling the orders as fast as I get parts in.

A30-10XL performance results?

Merrill -
Have you done test flights with the A30-10XL? If so, with what prop and battery size did you use and how many seconds did it take you to reach the 200m ALES contest height?
Thanks.
Tim

Back to building - hurray!

Ahhhh......after several months off (consumed by a evening class work on top of my day job, I'm back to the building table) and she's going to have a red fuse!!! Couldn't resist!

Hi Dee!
Well the red fuse is ordered but don't know when it will arrive. I have the center wing built and, finally after all these months, will be able to start on the outer wings this weekend. Believe me - I want to see this critter built - she's going to be a beauty!
Tim
PS Had to retrieve you know who's Ava from that larger area south of the field for him - it survived intact after we blinked and lost sight of it for 2 seconds!

Overall weight for Oculus E

Merrill -
What are you aiming at (ie best guess at the moment) for an AUW with motor, battery, and esc? OR what's the weight of the ship you are electrifying BEFORE the motor, esc, and battery are added?
Finally able to get back to building and am working on the outer wing panels this weekend. I am still in awe of how well designed and thought out the Oculus kit is. Outstanding.

Incidence question - Outer wing panel to center panel

I don't see what makes the ribs meet flush at this joint without having one of the ribs angled.
I am laying out both left and right wing panels. The manual says to layout M2 through M16 and M17(modified T1 for planking); setup on the spars and glue all ribs perpendicular to the building board. After sheeting it indicates on page 9 to install the plywood root rib M1. At this point both the center wing section and the outer wing section have ribs which are perpendicular to the building board (ie if you match the two sections flush to one another the wing would be straight - no dihedral). On page 11 the manual again says to glue the plywood wing root "cap" rib M1 to the outer panel and then proceeds to describe the incidence pin installation.
I would expect that the outer wing panel inboard ribs M1 and M2 would NOT be glued perpendicular to the building board but at the angle required for the dihedral. Otherwise I do not see how the outer wing panel and center panel adjacent ribs can meet flush when the wing sections are fitted together with the proper dihedral. . I know I'm missing something here, but I don't see it. Can someone clarify this for me? I'm sure I'm not seeing the forest for the trees. Thanks in advance.

Tim-
The center panel ribs are upright at 90* to the build board. After framing up the tip main panels, you need to sand in the 10* of angle to the tip 1/4" root ribs.
After that, you will add the plywood caps to the tip root panels. The plywood is necessary for the incidence pins.

Target
