Looking good gents. It appears both in contests AND in combat, the Oculus is a force to be reckoned with...

Target... your Oculus flies with unbelievable damage. But, does it fly backwards? I had a chute wrap the horz stab today and could not clear it. The wind pushed her around and was kiting backwards. I used the rudder as best I could to keep the wings level. Landed flat and quite slowly ( for a catastrphy). No damage and was flying a few minutes later. I have been getting alot of 1000 ft range flights lately, makes for nice wing cam footage. There is a video of the crash in the video gallery/ sailplanes/onewinch.
Thanks Merrill for making a nice strong airframe that flies wwell.

I've been told that I'm backwards before.... But I try to avoid flying backwards....
You appear to have one-uped me.

Took my Oculus to the local slope at the beach Sunday. Spent alot of time there back in the mid 80's & early 90's.

That was most likely rattle-can paint, thus the heavy transfer. The Aspire involved had been in either a near-total crash or several lesser ones, and had been extensively repaired/repainted.

Well today I have to wait to go to work so I have been doing a bit more work on the Oculus. I have been working on the wing for what seems like forever due to 1/2 hour here and there, but the wing is in the finishing stages and soon it will get the covering. This wing is total woody legal, the leading edge is bass wood and the trailing edges are plywood and all of the rib capping is 64th plywood.

The only structure change I have made is to extend the spoiler bays by one rib bay so I can have a little bit more air spoiling power. The only other changes that I have made is to remove the carbon and replace it with wood for woody legal, there are no other changes made because the design of this wing is perfect as it is.

Thank You.

I am looking at a covering job on the wing of transparent green with white over solid areas and transparent white for the tips.
