Just finished a local contest. Finished 3rd, and Merrill won! Big thanks to Merrill, as I forgot my tails (duh) and he gave me his set so I could fly. I will let him fill in the details...very good Oculus day.

Warren did good today. The wind was blowing right up the slope to give us a nice wave lift action. It was great having Warren there today. What a cool dude you ROCK!

Sunday went to the Gene Hays event in Riverside. Nice day to fly. Even got to see a AVA Pro go up in smoke. High power line tend to do that! I placed 3rd with the Oculus. Great Day!

I'm moments away from starting the repairs to mine.... The mid-air (round before the last one at SVSS) left her heavily damaged (but I still launched after the mid-air and managed a 10:00.03 and 97 for the last round!).

I hate doing repairs.

That's just a flesh wound...I'll look like new in no time. Crazy how much paint the Aspire left on your built-up wing! Most balsa models would have been confetti, I'll bet. That carbon tube LE must be pretty stout!

I think it just flexed back at the initial hit, until it was loaded, then cut through the Aspire's wing skin.

That carbon tube can take a big load.

A high speed photo of the time of impact would be priceless.....wish someone would have got that!
At any rate, its totally repairable. Heck, it was apparently flyable too. ;-P

I hate to see anyone's plane take a hit but to have a video to see how the wing held up and how the impact was adsorbed without total failure would help to understand the benefits of one building design over another.
