Re-reading this thread for throws, CG and tow hook position.
Going with an adjustable hook, so not too critical so long as the sweet spot is near the middle.
Gear will be:

Hyperion 1700 2S Life "Square pack" (about the same exact dimensions as a AA square pack)
921 Rx (I think)
Hyperion DS16 for the elevator
Hyperion DS13 for the rudder (metal gear)
Hyperion DS11 metal gears for the spoilers
STDP switch (maybe, havent decided yet)

Well, she's ready for a range check and maiden tomorrow.
I'm happy with the build quality of this plane.

Weighs @ 62oz with the CG at 4.5", 63oz with the CG at 4.25".

I may add a ballast bar support near the CG later on, for a ballast system.

I used a STDP switch after all.
See attached pics.

Wx looks good. The last couple of mornings have been ugly, but today looks much better.
Hang in there with your Wx, it will be flying season very soon for you!

I'll report the happenings after I get back.

It is flying season You just have to get it in between storms ... I took the Oculus out Monday for 4 hours on our slope and did some new pilot training, It was some sweet flying 12 mph winds and thermals with it so you could ride up in a very short time to specked out.

Sounds like a good time Clarence...Merrill what are the sizes for the stab pivot wires... I cannot find the smaller one(not that I dropped it ) and want to make an extra set of both.
Thanks

Thanks for the great compliment and great pic, Merrill!
I am especially pleased getting a compliment from a master woodie (and glass too!) builder, it means a lot to me!

The maiden-

What maiden? It went up the line like it had been launched a million times already, and it knew what to do.
The flying was great today, there were small but powerful thermals around, and large areas of sink between them, and you would get punished if you flew out of the lift.
I will be preparing a post with the few things that I deviated from the plans or more accurately, extended the spirit of the plans further than written. It may take me a little bit, but I will get to it.

The plane flew great, and looks great, and I was able to thermal it up on the very first flight! How awesome is that??

Thanks for a great design and fun build, Merrill!
And thanks for selling me a winning ticket to 50% off a kit, CVRC!

Thanks T...you're very welcome. Time to find my second career--after 26 years of not having to put any thought into what to wear to work each day!
