Success! I went to a more open area and the GPS module started to find satellites after about 20 minutes. Subsequent attempts took about 5 min to get 3 satellites and another 5 or so minutes to get up to 7-8. Not exactly fast, but for the price it is amazing to me that it does anything at all!

I noticed that the little battery in the GPS module shows 3V when powered (charging) and 1V when not. Anyone have a link to the right replacement? I will try changing it and see I get a fix any faster.

Thanks

dang

Well at least I have my G-OSD in the mail

I was looking through the config.h and found the refresh rate. What have people found as the fastest stable setting?

1 to 2 htz I believe is the two choices that work ,2htz might take some tweaking to get it right if your not using gps maybe faster then

ok, and with a faster GPS can it run faster or is the processor maxed at 2? I have a 10hz gps that can easily be configured for it. and if the G-OSD2 is faster ill probably grab one of those.

I have the same problem. It only gets 3 sattelites after a long period of time and takes even longer to get 6 or more. A month ago, I had to wait a minute for 6+ sattelites and now it takes ages. I took it apart and measured, that the battery has 0.04V. I thing I will put a cr2032 on the bottom of the module. This battery has 230mah and the old one (MS621F) has 5.5mah.

Just an idea for the GPS module...

Adding/upgrading the battery is great! I actually juse installed a 5f super cap on my GPS and it changed everything! The Supercap only lasts about a week when a battery would probably last much longer but I like the size.

This isnt for the G-OSD but for the Remzibi/Dragon OSD's GPS modules but it would apply to all Modules.
FPV GPS upgrades (14 min 50 sec)

Here is the result indoors! (cold boot, 4 hours from last use)
Remzibi Lock GPS mod (1 min 27 sec)

The battery or super cap keeps power to the memory so that the GPS remembers its basic data for a faster connection next time.

nice im making a conversion kit to make any 1.2-1.3ghz vtx into universal 5.8 style connections and just realized how an extra connector might help connect the osd too

good thing I didnt submit my layout to the manufacture yet
