Chains

Jimmy,

The plans show some chains at the bow. Are your chains attached to anything or are they single chains running around the stem and back up to the rig?

What the heck are those chains for??

Those chains are attached to a flat steel plate that has rounded corners on it. There are a couple of bends that angle the plate backwards a bit. Those chains give the trawling arms support when they are dragging the net through the water. If they weren't there a full net would probably pull the arms off the boat.

Okay, Jimmy, I see how it's made.

It'll either be easily removable or have slots so I can lift the chains out when removing the rig for transportation.

Thanks,

Ed

Thanks, Jerome, maybe I'll make a combination of the two methods.

Annual Progress Report

Hi, Jimmy,

Almost a year since the last post on your log.

Can we have a progress report?

I see all your typos

I didn't see this thread at the top of the list like normal, I came across it via web search and read beginning to end.

But seconded on the inquiry. Would love any updates as this is a phenomenal build and apparently the inspiration for A-37's work.

Trawler is nice but way too clean to be realistic; they probably weren't even pristine the day before they left the shipyard.
Doesn't have to be disgustingly filthy but just show an indication of some honest wear and tear or boot scuff marks on the deck (simulated) or something. Maybe that will come after years of RC use... my 2 cents anyway.

But a belated wow.

I was going to make a comment too but realized I already did.
When threads go necro, they really disappear...out of sight out of mind.

This is a beautiful boat and the operational rigging--I have to see that.

I really was hoping for a vid or updated pics.

it can be revived ....assuming he still owns her,and has the will to move on.
a lot of time and work invested in this model
